A Cedar Springs teen died early Saturday morning when he was struck by two vehicles on U.S. 23 in Hartland Township, near Brighton, while walking along the highway.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff Department, Aaron John Hendrick, 18, of Cedar Springs, was southbound on U.S. 23 about 5:25 a.m. Saturday morning, January 15, when his 2008 Pontiac Vibe crashed into the shoulder of U.S. 23.
Police said Hendrick then began walking northbound on southbound U.S. 23 near the fog line, and was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Larry Kotowicz, 51, of Grand Blanc. Hendrick was then struck again by a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Michael Powell, 29, also of Grand Blanc.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County Ambulance personnel.
U.S. 23 south of Highland Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while deputies investigated. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
