Evelyn M. Bliss 97 of Cedar Springs died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Bishop Hills, Rockford. Mrs. Bliss was born August 31, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of John Jay and Mary Ellen (O’Leary) Seeley. She along with her husband, Tom owned and operated the Bliss Funeral Home from 1954 – 1981. She was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Cedar Springs. She stayed very involved in her church and the Cedar Springs community throughout the years. Surviving are her daughters, MaryAnn (Ted) DeVries of Plainwell, Peggy Helsel of Rockford; grandchildren, Brenna Willis, Eric (Jessica) DeVries; beloved great-granddaughters, Hannah and Delilah Willis; unofficial third daughter, Joan Walsh Duffy; nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 2010; son, Patrick in 2015; and brother Floyd “Bud” Seeley. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Cedar Springs. Rev. Fr. Lam Le presiding. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Public Library, Hospice of Michigan or the charity of donor’s choice.

Jerry L. Kinsey, age 48 of Sand Lake died Friday, January 19, 2018 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Jerry was born June 18, 1969 the son of Daniel Clore and Beverly Kinsey. He was a senior tool & die designer at Commercial Tool Group, Comstock Park. Jerry loved hunting, fishing, music, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat beer, and training and working with his dogs. Surviving are his children, Naomi (Corey) Wesche, Jordan Kinsey, Nickolas Kinsey and Ezra Kinsey; grandchildren, Gunnar, Jedidiah and Liam; mother, Beverly Hubbard; brothers, Kirk Moore, John (Jessica) Hubbard, Matt (Brandy) Hubbard and Tadd (Jennifer) Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his son, Joel Kinsey. The family will greet friends Friday, January 26 from 5-7 p.m. at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment with his son at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake.

Joel E. Kinsey age 20 of Sand Lake, died Thursday, January 4, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Joel was born November 2, 1997 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Jerry and Nicole (Frahm) Kinsey. He was a 2016 graduate of Tri-County High School and was presently serving as a LCpl in the U.S. Marines. He enjoyed hunting with his dogs and fishing. He loved chocolate and had a huge sweet tooth. Surviving are his mother, Nicole (Fernando Bernal) Kinsey; father, Jerry Kinsey; sisters, Naomi (Corey) Wesche, Jordan Kinsey, Sophia Bernal; brothers, Nickolas Kinsey, Ezra Kinsey; special friend, Brianna Hesselink; and extended family. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Friday 10:00 a.m. Pastor Chuck Smith officiating. James J. Patin 67 of Sand Lake, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Jim was born March 29, 1950 in Cedar Springs, Michigan the son of Joseph and Ruth (Horter) Patin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had worked at Knape & Vogt for 41 years retiring 2013. He was a member of the Wolverine Skyhawks and enjoyed taking motorcycle trips. Surviving are his wife, Sandra; children, Melissa Patin, Jim (April) Patin, Gina (Craig) Dillon, Matt Patin, Becky (Rob) Baker, Jill Patin, Collin (Michelle) Patin; 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Maureen) Patin; sisters, Catherine Patin, Marie Patin, Patricia Patin, Gerri (Ralph) VanOcker, RoseAnn Patin; mother-in-law, Helen Beebe; many nieces and nephews and his dog, Teddy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark. The family greeted friends Tuesday at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Deborah Ann Sturgeon, 56, of Grand Rapids, died Thursday, June 9, 2016. Deborah was born April 21, 1960 in Greenville, Michigan, the daughter of Daniel and Judy (Elder) Sturgeon. She graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor degree in Graphic Design. She owned and operated Lindy Press in Grand Rapids. She enjoyed her family and friends. Surviving are her parents, Daniel and Judy Sturgeon; brother, Daniel (Julie) Sturgeon; sisters, Diana Krueger, Danielle (Steve) Neff, Dawn (Lyndsey) Sturgeon, Darci (Jack) Reinhardt; grandmother, Virginia Fisher; several nieces and nephews. Sgt. Bobbie Sue Chesbro, 25, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 in California. Bobbie Sue was born October 1, 1990 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Patrick and Carlien (Brinks) Chesbro. She was currently serving in the U.S. Marines at the Marine Corp. Mountain Training Center in Bridgeport, California. She was a very tender, caring and loving person. Surviving are her parents, Patrick and Carlien Chesbro of Pierson; sister, Bernice (Alan) Ritter; brother, Patrick Chesbro II; nephews, Nickolie and Alister; grandparents, Mildred Chesbro, Carl and Kay Brinks; fiance, Jonathan Fland; many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Chesbro and great-grandma VanderWal. Charles V. Dubridge 85, of Cedar Springs, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at home with his family by his side. Charles was born July 21, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Henry and Mildred (Loree) Dubridge. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and had been a draftsman at Fridgidaire in Greenville, retiring in 1990. His family was very important to him and he was a great father and grandfather. Surviving are his children, Wanda (Roger) Kleinjans, Tom (Char) Dubridge, Chuck (Linda) Dubridge, Rob (Angel) Dubridge; daughter-in-law, Ellen Grifhorst; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Dubridge, Leon (Helen) Dubridge; sister, Nyra Goetzel; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dubridge; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evah in 2003; brothers, Harry, Lynn, Don and Flinton; sister, Lucy Vidro.
