First annual CSYFL community charity games


 

In an effort to give back to the local community, which has supported the Youth Football Program, Cedar Springs Youth Football is hosting their first annual Community Charity Games, on Saturday, October 21, at Red Hawk Stadium. 

The Cedar Springs 7th grade football team will take on South Christian 7th grade at 5:30 p.m., and the Cedar Springs 8th grade will play Caledonia at the conclusion of the 7th Grade game.

Admission is $3 per adult, $2 per child, and 3 and under free.

Proceeds from the games will go to the Ricker and Orr families.

Rickerstrong golf fundraiser


 

A golf outing fundraiser is planned for June 25 to raise money to help pay for medical costs for two teen brothers with cancer. Brison Ricker is battling DIPG, an inoperable brain tumor, and Preston is fighting thyroid cancer.

The fundraiser is a four-man scramble at The Falls of Barber Creek on June 25 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $300 per team and includes a pulled-pork dinner. There will also be a hole-in-one contest, longest drive, closest-to-pin, “hit the boat,” auctions, raffles, and 50/50. To reserve your spot, call the golf course at 616-675-7345, stop in at the course, or email Blair Bissell at bissbab1@hotmail.com. The course is located at 16030 Barber Creek Ave, Kent City, Michigan 49330.

Ricker football fundraiser

You can enjoy a football game while raising funds for the Ricker family this Saturday, May 20, when the Michigan Patriots, a semi-pro football team out of Middleville, takes on the Capital City Stealth (out of Lansing) right here in Cedar Springs. The game is at 5 p.m. at Skinner Field, next to Morley Park. Tickets are $5 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Funds raised will go to the family of Brison and Preston Ricker, two Cedar Springs brothers fighting cancer. Brison has been fighting DIPG, an inoperable brain cancer, and Preston is fighting thyroid cancer.

Running for the Rickers 5K

Have you been looking for a way to help teen cancer victims Brison and Preston Ricker and their family? You won’t want to miss this brand new event—Running for the Rickers 5K! It will be held on Sunday, May 21, at 9 a.m. at Cedar Springs Middle School. It is a 5K Run/Walk with designed stops between Cedar Springs Middle School, the Ricker Home, and Cedar Springs High School.

Come on out and have some fun and support the Ricker family as they win the fight against cancer! All proceeds go to the family.

There are three ways you can participate: attend the race, run your own virtual 5K, or just make a donation. Donations are $35 Adults, $20 Teen (ages 13 – 18), $10 Child (12 and under).
