How does a plate of pancakes, sausage and eggs sound for breakfast?  Grab the family because breakfast’s up!  Solon Township/Vezly Park is hosting their second annual  Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, May 11 from 9:00am until 11:00am. at the Township Hall, 15185 Algoma Ave.  Breakfast includes the aforementioned as well as juice and coffee.  The meal is $6.00 per person with children under three free.  The breakfast runs in conjunction with Solon’s cleanup for Solon residents but is open to everyone.  All proceeds go towards funding the Vezly Park project.

The restroom project is underway with groundbreaking to begin soon.  Join your friends and family and check out the plans for the new restroom and walk the trail.  Funding for the project has been primarily provided though the support of local businesses and residents who stepped up to support the park.  Short term future projects include a playground and connection to the North Country Trail.  The park is open to everyone from dawn until dusk.  For more information or to support the park, contact Solon Township at 616-696-1718. What’s better than a nice, hot breakfast prepared for you on a Saturday morning? How about a nice hot breakfast that also benefits nonprofit groups in the community? The Cedar Springs LIONS Club pancake breakfasts do just that. Recent breakfasts have benefited both the Cub Scouts and Howard Christensen Nature Center. There is one more breakfast to attend this spring, and this one will benefit the Cedar Springs Equestrian Team.

The next Cedar Springs LIONS Club pancake breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, 140 S. Main St, Cedar Springs. 

Enjoy a hearty breakfast of all you can eat pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, juice, and coffee, for $8 for adults, and $25 for a family (two adults and two children under age 12). Two dollars of each meal will be contributed to the team. Ticket or flyer must be presented for each person eating.

Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser

Jan. 12: Help support Makhella’s Service Dog journey. Kayla has recently been diagnosed with a muscle deficiency in her eyes leaving her with low vision and near legally blind which causes difficulty in simple activities of daily living. Along with Kayla’s cognitive impairment from a tragic birth causes her to struggle with daily activities. As a vibrant 20 year old, Kayla is trying to be as independent as possible in her journey through adulthood. Doctors and Therapist both have suggested a Service Dog. Blood Drive for Lizzie August

Good Friday Walk and Remember

Mar. 25: Walk to each of the Sand Lake Village Churches and listen to the thoughts of characters that experienced the crucifixion first hand. Friday, March 25^th from noon to 1:30 pm. Our walk begins at Resurrection Lutheran Church (just south of town on Northland Dr.), with stops at the Full Gospel Church, Downtown Pavilion, Mary Queen of Apostles, and the United Methodist Church. Transportation will be provided back to the Lutheran Church. Children and families are encouraged to join us. #10-12p

HCNC Easter Egg Hunt w/Brunch

Mar. 26: Howard Christensen Nature Center will hold it’s 6^th Annual Easter Egg Hunt with Brunch on Saturday, March 26^th. Brunch will be served from noon to 2 pm. CS Community Players Mystery Trivia

Mar. 30: The Cedar Springs Community Players are pleased to announce “Murder at the Kent”, a collection of three one act plays which will be performed at the Kent Theatre on March 30th, 31st, and April 1st.  The plays are Sorry, Wrong Number, Heat Lightning, and The Man who Died Twice.  These short, thrilling plays will delight the mystery lovers and send shivers down the spines of the audience.  And since every good mystery story requires some anticipation, the Players have devised a series of mystery themed trivia to build up the suspense before opening night.  These questions will appear in The Cedar Springs Post each week in the month before the production, starting on March 3^rd.  Solve the riddles and bring your answers to one of the performances at the Kent Theatre to be entered to win prizes that night. #10p

Women’s Day Retreat

Feb. 6: Need to get away from it all? A day away just for women will be held at the beautiful Loon’s Nest Banquet Center at Whitefish Lake on Saturday, February 6th from 9 am – 4 pm. Registration is at 8:30 am. The event called “G.R.O.W. – the Godly Rise of Women” is designed to encourage growth in women’s relationships, not only with God, but with spouses, family and personal friendships as well. Tickets are $35 which includes a delicious lunch, all day snacks and beverages, guest speaker Gail Ramesh the originator or the retreat ministry called Unveiled, and materials for special (hands on) breakout sessions.
