Sparta horse earns third at world championship show


championship horseOKLAHOMA CITY – American Quarter Horse Obviously OT, owned by Frank Berris of Sparta, Michigan, earned third place in the FedEx Open yearling geldings class at the American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show in Oklahoma City, on November 18.
In the yearling geldings, 22 entries competed for world champion honors. Berris and Obviously OT, who is a 2009 sorrel gelding, won the title and a prize package that includes a custom-designed bronze-tone trophy, medallion, a cash prize and several other items.
Obviously OT was shown by Ross Roark of Monahans, Texas.
Obviously OT is sired by Obviously The One and out of Steel Roses by Sonnys Securitee. The gelding was bred by Donald and Gwen Rice of Sumiton, Alabama.
The 2010 AQHA World Championship Show is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing English, western and halter disciplines. More than 3,300 entries from 13 countries competed for more than $2.6 million in cash and prizes at this year’s event, November 6-20, at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
