Motorcyclist dies in US-131 crash


A motorcyclist that ran into the back of a car on US-131 earlier this week did not survive his injuries.

The Michigan State Police responded to the crash, which occurred on Tuesday, September 12, shortly after 4 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway, in the construction zone, near Indian Lakes Rd.

A 53-year-old Ravenna man on a motorcycle reportedly struck a 2011 Subaru when the driver slowed for traffic. He was taken to Butterworth Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, a 33-year-old Kent City woman, was not injured.

Algoma Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.

Pedestrian hit and killed by motorcyclist

A motorcyclist could be facing charges after hitting and killing a man early Friday morning in Pierson Township.

According to the Michigan State Police Post in Lakeview, the crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. Friday, July 22. Jerud Schneider, 32, of Wyoming, was walking along Stanton Road, in rural Pierson Township, near the intersection of Neve Road, when the motorcyclist struck and killed him.

The motorcyclist, who was also injured, left the scene after being picked up by someone. The motorcyclist called in the crash a short time later to get medical attention and was taken to Butterworth Hospital for treatment.

Police found his motorcycle in a field near the crash.

Police are not yet releasing the name of the motorcyclist. They do not yet know whether alcohol was a factor. The crash is still under investigation.

Motorcyclist injured in accident


 

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries when he was hit from behind by a car last week.

According to the Kent County Sheriff Department, the accident occurred on Wednesday, October 7, at the intersection of White Creek and 16 Mile, at approximately 5:45 a.m. Police said that a 21-year-old White Cloud man was travelling southbound in his car, on White Creek Avenue, when he struck the rear end of a motorcycle.  The motorcycle was ridden by a 62-year-old Cedar Springs man, who was stopped on White Creek Ave waiting to turn onto 16 Mile Rd.

The motorcyclist was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, with serious injuries.  The 21-year-old suffered no injuries.

Heavy fog was believed to be a factor, however, alcohol was not.
