Michigan Historical Center celebrates ‘Apples Everywhere’

Free admission

Apple time in Michigan is the focus of the second Saturday program at the Michigan Historical Museum on Sept. 14. Visitors to the museum, part of the Michigan Historical Center, will explore apple myths and legends, investigate soil science, watch cider being pressed and discover heritage apple trees. Admission to the museum is free on Sept. 14 courtesy of Lake Trust Credit Union and the Michigan History Foundation.

Second Saturday programs take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and families can drop in anytime during that period to participate. Families who come to Apples Everywhere can also explore the permanent museum exhibits that tell the story of Michigan.

The Michigan Historical Center and visitor parking are at 702 W. Kalamazoo Street, two blocks east of M. L. King Jr. Boulevard. Weekend parking is free.

Michigan businesses interested in sponsoring a day at the museum to provide free admission in exchange for promotional considerations should contact Carol Payne at 517-373-2565 or PayneC@michigan.gov.

The Michigan Historical Center is part of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Its museum and archival programs help people discover, enjoy and find inspiration in their heritage. It includes the Michigan Historical Museum, 10 regional museums, Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Underwater Preserve, and the Archives of Michigan.
