Harold L. Potter age 82 of Cedar Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at his home. Harold was born June 2, 1938 in Cedar Springs, MI the son of Merritt and Beulah (Sneathen) Potter. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-60. He grew up on a dairy farm and had been a leader with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Red Flannel Rod & Gun Club where he taught hunter safety classes. Surviving are his wife, Helen whom he married on August 5, 1961; children, Harold “Les” (Denise) Potter Jr, Eileen (Randy) Driesenga, Emmett (Sonila) Potter, Elizabeth (Jim) Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donovan (Jane) Potter, Daniel (Alice) Potter; sister, Elsie (Bob) Sly; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Carl Potter. The family greeted friends Tuesday, December 15 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service was held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Camp Lake Baptist Church 12150 N. Division, Sparta. Pastor Dennis Tyson officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Lake Baptist Church.

Auditions for “Young Frankenstein”

May 1-3: The Flat River Community Players will hold auditions for the musical “Young Frankenstein” on Sunday, May 1^st from 1 to 3 pm and Monday, May 2^nd and Tuesday, May 3^rd from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Greenville. Director Amanda Hall and music director pending are looking to cast 3 adult women and 7 adult men and a mixed chorus: all of varying ages late teen/20’s through 60-70’s. Auditioners should bring a prepared solo, Broadway song preferred, with either sheet music or recorded accompaniment, no a capella, please. Five performances are scheduled for July 8 – 16. Questions? May 10,12,14: Join Deputy Scott Cook and Director David Kieft for 3 separate days to receive your hunters safety certificate. Good Friday Walk and Remember 

Mar. 25: Walk to each of the Sand Lake Village Churches and listen to the thoughts of characters that experienced the crucifixion first hand. Friday, March 25^th from noon to 1:30 pm. Our walk begins at Resurrection Lutheran Church (just south of town on Northland Dr.), with stops at the Full Gospel Church, Downtown Pavilion, Mary Queen of Apostles, and the United Methodist Church. Help Promote Literacy

Apr. 14: The Literacy Center of West Michigan has scheduled and information session on Thursday April 14^th, for prospective volunteer tutors. This session is held at 6 pm and lasts one hour. It allows persons interested in becoming volunteer tutors to find out more about the Center and its literacy programs. At the end of the session there will be an opportunity to sign up for tutor training. By training people to be tutors, the Center can offer one-on-one reading help to adults asking for assistance in reading or English as a Second Language (ESL).
