Jay Eugene Jeffrey, of Cedar Springs, Michigan, passed away at his home Thursday, August 16, 2018. He was 78. Mr. Jeffrey was born February 4, 1940 in Highland Township, Osceola County, Michigan to Vern and Gladys (Britton) Jeffrey. Jay graduated from Evart High School in 1959. He married Barbara Poterack on February 14, 1969 in Wyoming, Michigan and she preceded him in death August 17, 2005. They both enjoyed traveling and had a passion for car racing. He spent most of his life in the Grand Rapids area. Jay was a lifelong mechanic. He enjoyed fishing with his family and was a member of Red Pine Bible Church in Kent City. Jay loved to tell stories and always laughed because most of them weren’t true. If everyone went out to eat, Jay would usually forget his wallet, then laugh because he got away with it. Mr. Jeffrey is survived by two sisters, Virginia (Chuck) Rose of Boulder, Colorado, Marilyn (Ron) Struble of Sears; two brothers, Robert Jeffrey of Clio, Jack (PJ) Jeffrey of Evart; long time special friend, Sandy Fleischmann of Cedar Springs, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Gladys Jeffrey, and his wife of 36 years, Barbara. Funeral services honoring Jay Eugene Jeffrey was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21st at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart, with visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20th. Jay will be laid to rest next to his wife in Greenwood Cemetery near Marion, Michigan.

Audrey E. Earhart, 89 of Cedar Springs, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at her home. Audrey was born February 26, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Edward and Letha (Kesler) Weaver. She graduated from Cedar Springs High School in 1945 and served her country in the Women’s Army Corps during the Korean War. She worked at the General Motors Alpine Avenue Plant for 30 years retiring in 1989. Surviving are a sister, Lily Fisher; brother-in-law, Edward Earhart; nieces, Jeanne Fisher, Susan Hood and Janie Ream; nephews, Edward Fisher and Greg Earhart; many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 1998; a brother Cedric Weaver and a very special nephew, Joe Fisher. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Grand Rapids.

Dorothy M. Olson


Dorothy M. Olson 91 of Cedar Springs, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Olson was born May 23, 1925 in Sparta, MI the daughter of F.G. and Lena (Dargie) Reyburn. She graduated from Sparta High School and was a former member of First Baptist Church, Cedar Springs. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Iris Society. Surviving are her children, Dave (Barb) Olson, Ron Olson, Judy (Al) Ferguson, Sandra Olson, Tom (Denise) Olson, Steve (Deb) Olson, Karen Olson, Joanne Olson, Phil Olson, Paul (Judy) Olson; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 1988 and two brothers. The family would like to thank Spectrum Health Hospice for their help and care. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Friday 11:00 am. Pastor Chuck Smith officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Sparta. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
