Judith Ann Tysse


 

Judith Ann Tysse age 65, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016.  Judy was born at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Clarence and Kathleen (Prater) Tysse of Cedar Springs.  She spent her childhood in Cedar Springs, graduating from Cedar Springs High School in 1969.  She went on to receive her BA in Education from Western Michigan University in 1973 and taught Emotionally Impaired (EI) children at Wyoming Public Schools for almost four decades, during which time she received awards for her extraordinary work.  Judy enjoyed people of all ages, had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh, and had a way of positively affecting those around her—whether family, friends, colleagues, or students.  She will be dearly missed by her brothers, John (Wilma) of Boyne City, Paul (Della) of La Crosse, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Michele of Grand Rapids, dear friend and companion, Mary Hanson of Grand Rapids, and many, many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her partner of many years, Vonce Reed; father and mother; brothers, Thomas and James.  The family will greet friends and celebrate her life on Monday, September 26 from 5 – 7 pm at the Bliss-Witters and Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. A private family graveside will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs where she will be laid to rest by her parents. Pastor Steve Lindeman officiating. LORETTA E. LEWIS


 

Loretta E. Lewis 90 of Cedar Springs, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Faith Hospice – Trillium Woods. Mrs. Lewis was born April 8, 1926 in Unionville, Michigan the daughter of Jasper and Loretta (Rock) Sweitzer. She enjoyed doing word search, spending time with her family and camping. Surviving are her children, Wayne (Patricia) Lewis Jr., Jasper (Sally) Lewis, Raymond Lewis, Barb Lewis, Jeanette Lewis, Layne Lewis, Jayne Lewis, Etta Jones, and Ella (Benny) Wise; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Lewis Sr. in 1997. The family will greet friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Saturday 11:00 am. Pastor Chuck Smith officiating. JAMES A RECTOR


 

35C-obit-RectorJames A. Rector, 85, of Baldwin and Florida, was called back to his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Faith Hospice-Trillium Woods. Mr. Rector was born January 26, 1930 in Pierson, Michigan, the son of Edward A. and Gladys S. (Bird) Rector. He was an Army Veteran and had been employed by General Motors for 37 years before retiring January 1, 1990. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and looking for lost golf balls. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Donna L. (Rounds); two daughters, Terri (Peter) Loda of Byron Center, Gail (Joe) Parks of Grandville; six grandchildren, Michele (Justin) Poorman, Andrea (Evan) Bevolden, Aaron Loda, Shelby Loda, Conner Loda and Joshua (Heather) Lunger; three great grandchildren; brother, Alvin “Pete” (Edith) Rector; sister, Norma (Fred) Shira; several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Ed Rathbun. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 6-8 pm, at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs and one hour before the funeral service on Wednesday, September 2nd at the First Baptist Church, Cedar Springs. Pastors James Howard and Bob Sponable officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Lora G. Castle


Lora G. Castle, 87 of Cedar Springs, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Metro Health Hospital. Mrs. Castle was born October 2, 1927 in Lakeview, MI the daughter of Thomas and Carrie (Mumby) Culver. She retired from Wolverine World Wide and was a longtime attendee of the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her children, Nancy (Dennis) Buck, Bill (Judi) Castle; son-in-law, John (Barbara) Hausman; grandchildren, Melissa (Dean) Cushman, Bill (Helene) Castle, Jr., Patrick (Jeanette) Castle, Scott (Erin) Buck; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Shaylee, Lindsey, Joshua, Justin and Conner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd in 1998 and a daughter, Beverly Hausman. The family will greet friends Saturday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, 140 S. Main, Cedar Springs. Pastor Steve Lindeman officiating. BEULAH M. CASTOR


 

Beulah M. Castor, 87 of Cedar Springs, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Faith Hospice – Trillium Woods. Beulah was born March 20, 1927 in Cedar Springs, Michigan the daughter of Frank and Carrie (James) Sheldon. She was known for her cooking and was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are her children, Brenda (Alvaro) Vega, Anna (Dan) Bekins, David (Terrie) Castor; 10 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Fred” Castor in 1996; son, Freddie; one grandson; two brothers and two sisters. The family received friends Monday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Rev. Fr. Lam Le officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. RANDALL H. INGRAHAM


C-obit-IngrahamRandall H. Ingraham, 70 of Sand Lake, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Faith Hospice – Trillium Woods. Randy was born May 26, 1944 in Greenville, Michigan, the son of Colin and Dixie (Harris) Ingraham. He graduated from Cedar Springs High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 – 1966. He was a very active person who cared about and enjoyed others. He always had a Harley and enjoyed racing motorcycles and riding cross country with his wife. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, and boating. He worked hard and owned his own company, which allowed him to provide for his family. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Shelia (Baxter); children, David Ingraham, DenaJo Rogers; grandchildren, Nickolas, SaraJo, KaileyJo, Shane; brother, TobyJoe (Gayla) Ingraham; sister, Kathy Wisler. The family will greet friends Friday, January 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where services will be held Saturday 2:00 pm, with viewing starting at 1:00 pm. The family would like you to dress casually – boots and blue jeans. Mr. Ross Merlington officiating. Private interment at Trufant Cemetery. She was born July 27, 1934 in Cedar Springs, Michigan the daughter of Edwin and Hazel (Sullivan) Wheeler. She was Red Flannel Queen in 1951 and a member of the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, Women’s Club and the Red Hatters. She had worked at the Clipper office and was Solon Township Clerk for over 30 years. Surviving are her children, Janell (Keith) Timmer, Kyle (Teresa) Anderson; grandchildren, Solane Jenks, Jacinda Nykamp, Sarah Perez, Kevin Timmer; four great grandchildren; brother, Edwin (Sherry) Wheeler II. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andy in 2005; sister, Phyllis Brantner. The family will greet friends Friday from 4-7 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where services will be held Saturday 11:00 am. Pastor Steve Lindeman officiating.
