NANCY J. SEE


Nancy J. See age 76 of Rockford, died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her home. Nancy was born July 3, 1941 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Earl and Jessie (Irwin) Tyler. She was a member of the 40 et 8 and the Cedar Springs American Legion Auxiliary where she ran the bingo for 20 years. She had a great sense of humor and loved living on the lake. She was a former Sunday School Teacher and loved Jesus, her family and her friends. Nancy was always there to help others and anyone in need. Surviving are her husband, James; children, Debi (Garrett) Hanson, Dawn (Edward) Smith, David Smith, Patrick (Kathy) See, Gerald See, Eric See; grandchildren, Nicole Miller, Jessica Krueger, Breanna Smith, Brayden Smith, Christa See, Kristen See, James See; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores (George) Peterson; special cousin, June Force. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren, Brendan Smith and Katie Grace Smith; sisters, Earlene Hinzman and Jackie Pena. The family will greet friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Friday 11:00 am. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs American Legion Auxiliary.

EVELYN M. BLISS 


 

Evelyn M. Bliss 97 of Cedar Springs died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Bishop Hills, Rockford. Mrs. Bliss was born August 31, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of John Jay and Mary Ellen (O’Leary) Seeley. She along with her husband, Tom owned and operated the Bliss Funeral Home from 1954 – 1981. She was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Cedar Springs. She stayed very involved in her church and the Cedar Springs community throughout the years. Surviving are her daughters, MaryAnn (Ted) DeVries of Plainwell, Peggy Helsel of Rockford; grandchildren, Brenna Willis, Eric (Jessica) DeVries; beloved great-granddaughters, Hannah and Delilah Willis; unofficial third daughter, Joan Walsh Duffy; nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 2010; son, Patrick in 2015; and brother Floyd “Bud” Seeley. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Cedar Springs. Rev. Fr. Lam Le presiding. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Public Library, Hospice of Michigan or the charity of donor’s choice.

EmmaJeanne (Hamilton) Albrecht 90 of Grand Rapids, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Green Acres of Cedar Springs. She was born November 5, 1927 in Akron, Ohio the daughter of Paul and Mary (Steele) Feutz. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She was always there for her family and nothing was more important. Surviving are her children, Joe (Sheryl) Hamilton of Wayland, John (Ruth) Hamilton of Jenison, Julie (Mark) Barnhart, Joni (Scott) Olmsted, Jeff (Annette) Hamilton all of Cedar Springs, Jan Chase of Gobles, Jeanne Hamilton of Pierson, Greg Albrecht of Grand Rapids, and Ted Albrecht of Rockford; son-in-law, Marshall Morris of Cedar Springs; sisters, Nancee Cyr of Kalamazoo, Sally (George) Erwood of Grand Rapids; brothers, Roger (Mary) Feutz, Richard (Sunop) Feutz of Grand Rapids, and Tom (Alice) Feutz of Cedar Springs; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Donald Hamilton and Arlie Albrecht; daughter, Jari Morris; son-in-law, Chris Chase; brothers David Feutz and Gerard (Evelyn) Feutz; brother-in-law, Bill Cyr; sister-in-law, Connie Feutz. The family will receive friends Wednesday February 14 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of Apostles, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Lam Le presiding. Interment Pierson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Associations.

JEANETTE E. COOKINGHAM


 

Jeanette E. “Jan” Cookingham, 85 of Cedar Springs passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Harrietta, Michigan to Carl & Mable (Hewett) Mercer. She married Corry S. Cookingham on June 2, 1956 and loved being a mother, grandmother and taking care of her home. She is survived by her husband Corry; children, Corry C. (Patti) Cookingham, Sue Mansfield, Craig C. Cookingham and Curt C. (Laura) Cookingham; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Lucas Mansfield. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs with the family meeting friends at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions to Shriner’s or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals.

HENRIETTA MEAD


 

Henrietta Mead age 85 of Cedar Springs passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 9, 2018. She was born April 24, 1932 in Obion, Tennessee, to Odie and Clarine (Hudson) Dunn. Early in her marriage to James they lived in the Hart/Silver Lake area on a farm where they raised fruit, beef, and their four children. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James; children, Jerry Mead, Joanie Gashaw, and Jay Mead; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse (Joyce) Dunn; sisters Brenda (George) Laukant and Lessie Monje. She was preceded in death by her son Jack; sisters, Kathryn Morris and Mary Priest. Memorial Services will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17 at Oakfield Baptist Church, 11128 – 14 Mile Rd. NE Rockford, Pastor Chris Minor, officiating. Because our faith and church are vital to us, we ask for memorial contributions to Oakfield Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

BARBARA JEAN ROWLAND


 

Barbara Jean Rowland age 88 of Cedar Springs died Monday, February 5, 2018 at her home. Barbara was born November 7, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Rodney and Ruth (Fry) Colby. As a mother raising her kids, she always attended the functions they were part of. In 1982 she opened along with her husband and two children Rowland Warehouse in Cedar Springs and the Public Warehouse in Greenville. She was a longtime member of the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church and her greatest love was singing in the church choir. She was always busy and enjoyed many activities with her friends. As she lost her sight in past years many of those friends picked her up for choir and to take her to dinner. Surviving are her children Douglas (Sherry) Rowland, Laurie Rowland, Jeffrey Rowland, Jim Rowland and Jodi DeRuiter; grandchildren, Robert Harwood Jr. and Anne Harwood, Libby (Scott) Zeeb, Chad Rowland, Andrew Rowland; great-grandchildren, Bobby Harwood, Jameson Zeeb, Darcy Zeeb. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rex in 2008; daughter Marcia. The family will greet friends Thursday, February 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. RANGER ALBERT FRANDSEN


 

Ranger Albert Frandsen, six week old infant son of Austin Frandsen and Amber Mahoney went to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Ranger was born December 25, 2017 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Also surviving are his grandparents, Kelly & Heather Mahoney, Bruce & Sandy Frandsen; great-grandparents, Tim & Sharon Mahoney, Lorelie Paepke, Joe & Sharon Kime, Albert & Betty Frandsen; great-great-grandfather, Tom Mahoney; aunts, uncles and cousins. A family graveside service was held at Trufant Cemetery.

PAULETTE L. FITZPATRICK


Paulette L. Fitzpatrick age 69 of Cedar Springs, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Paulette was born December 12, 1948 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Kelly and Eloise (Armstrong) Covey. She had been a longtime member of Solon Center Wesleyan Church and worked with her husband at Ed’s Auto Body. She enjoyed never sitting still, housekeeping and making her home neat and tidy inside and out. She loved her grandkids, making people laugh and helping others. Surviving are her husband, Edmund; daughter, Lynette (Aron) Bowser; grandchildren, Delaney, Macey and Preston; sister, Sonya Bigelow; brothers, Bryan (Sandy) Covey, Dean (Marie) Covey; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dawn Heim. The family greeted friends Wednesday, January 31 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Thursday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Kevin Reed officiating. Interment Algoma Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

LOU D. GRAYVOLD


Lou D. “Trooper” Grayvold, age 75 of Sparta died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Lou was born October 22, 1942 in Suttons Bay, Michigan the son of Martin and Florence (Nyberg) Grayvold. He retired as a supervisor from General Motors Fisher Body. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing and all the friends he did those activities with. He was a member of the American Legion Post #247 in Comstock Park. Surviving are his wife, Sally (Grannis) whom he married on June 18, 1966; brother, Max Grayvold; sister, Sonya Dearry; sister-in-law, Gloria Holmes; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and 1 great-grand niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Sherman and Gary Grayvold. The funeral was Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Private family interment East Nelson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Historical Society or the donor’s choice.

JERRY L. KINSEY


 

Jerry L. Kinsey, age 48 of Sand Lake died Friday, January 19, 2018 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Jerry was born June 18, 1969 the son of Daniel Clore and Beverly Kinsey. He was a senior tool & die designer at Commercial Tool Group, Comstock Park. Jerry loved hunting, fishing, music, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat beer, and training and working with his dogs. Surviving are his children, Naomi (Corey) Wesche, Jordan Kinsey, Nickolas Kinsey and Ezra Kinsey; grandchildren, Gunnar, Jedidiah and Liam; mother, Beverly Hubbard; brothers, Kirk Moore, John (Jessica) Hubbard, Matt (Brandy) Hubbard and Tadd (Jennifer) Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his son, Joel Kinsey. The family will greet friends Friday, January 26 from 5-7 p.m. at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment with his son at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake.
