Stanley Dale Nedry, age 91, of Cedar Springs passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. Stan was born June 21, 1927 in Falmouth, Michigan, the son of Fred and Sisley (Jones) Nedry. He served in the United States Army. Stan was an amazing carpenter for many years. He is survived by his children, Joan Balk and Brian Flohe; grandson, Ben Nedry; siblings, Boyd Nedry, Keith (June) Nedry, Irene (Marshall) Logan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn and sister, Marge VanHaitsma. A special thanks to his nephew Gayle and wife Pat for all their help and care. The family will greet friends Monday, August 20 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missaukee Humane Society 5310 W. Houghton Lake Rd. Lake City, MI 49651.

Dorothy A. Quist

Dorothy A. Quist 84 of Cedar Springs went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Green Acres of Cedar Springs. Mrs. Quist was born October 4, 1933 in Arlene, MI the daughter of Adrian and Bertha (Visscher) Fryling. She graduated from Manton High School in 1950, had a Master’s degree from Michigan State University and taught reading and music in Cedar Springs for 20 years retiring in 1993. She attended Pilgrim Bible Church. Music was her life, playing in church, as a worship leader, giving lessons, playing at weddings and for plays with the Cedar Springs Community Players. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Chester; daughter, Jackie (Dave) Mourer; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Quist; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Ray) Bigelow; sister-in-law, Patricia Fryling. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; 16 brothers and sisters-in-law. The family will greet friends Thursday, August 2 from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm at Pilgrim Bible Church, 361 Pine St. Cedar Springs. Pastor Mike Shiery officiating. Private interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Linda A. Christensen 68 of Cedar Springs, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Mercy Health – St. Mary’s. Linda was born March 24, 1950 in Ludington, MI the daughter of Robert and Edith (Clark) Matson. She was the City Clerk for Cedar Springs for over 20 years and prior to that was a stringer for the Grand Rapids Press. She was involved with the Cedar Springs Community Players Marketing Committee and enjoyed traveling and lighthouses. Surviving are her husband, Doug; children, Ben (Connie) Branyan, Luke (Rachel) Branyan, April (Chelsea) Branyan; step children, Kate (Stan) Mathuram, David (Erica) Christensen; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Barb (Jim) Husted, Marjorie “Midge” Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Branyan; one brother, Robert “Bud” Matson; brother-in-law, Tom Holmes; stepson, Hans. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 3 at 11:00 am at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor Chuck Smith officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Community Players.

GARY LEE RITTER


Gary Lee Ritter age 57 passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born in Big Rapids on October 30, 1960 to Alan and Clara (Ten Eyck) Ritter. Gary was very mechanical, he could fix and build anything. He always put his heart and soul into his family, work and community. Gary literally gave the shirt off his back when someone needed it! He loved his family and will be greatly missed. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 37 years B.J.; daughters, Erica and Laura (Adam) Birks, Christy; grandsons, Oliver and Jamie; brothers and sisters, Bruce, Tony, Don, Ron, Nancy and Laurie; sister-in-law, Teri Ritter; the Stone family and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his son, Jacob; parents, Alan Ritter, Clara Ritter Davis and Tom Davis; brother, Mark and sister Susie. The family will meet with friends Sunday, July 8 from 2-4 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

EVELYN J. MAXSON


Evelyn J. Maxson 88 of Cedar Springs, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Metron of Cedar Springs. Evelyn was born January 23, 1930 in Evanston, Illinois the daughter of Ellsworth and Florence (Lee) Norton. She was a longtime Cedar Springs resident and had worked at several area restaurants including the A&W Drive-In and baking pies for many years at Kelly’s. She enjoyed listening to music, ice cream and watching traffic go by. She loved her family and grandchildren and hosting family gatherings at holidays and during the Red Flannel Festival. Surviving are her children, Steve (Mary) Maxson, Randy (Robin) Maxson, Dave Maxson, Pat Bartaway, Mike Maxson; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Cindy Maxson; brother, Frank Norton; sister, Marilyn Tennant. The Maxson family would like to thank the staff at Metron of Cedar Springs and Hospice of Michigan for their care. The family greeted friends Tuesday, June 12 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service was held Wednesday. Pastor Tim Mauriello officiating. Janet (Wainright) Hunt 77 of Stanwood died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her home. Janet was born November 8, 1940 in Cedar Springs, Michigan the daughter of Murville “Charlie” and Shirley (Empie) Misner. Surviving are her husband, Mark; children, Philip (Gloria) Wainright, Ilene (Kevin) Shell, Beverly Richards, Steven (Julie) Wainright; 9 grandsons; 9 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly and spent as much time with as she could. Sisters, Marlene Ledford, Shirley Merlington, Joyce Johnson, Verdena (Jude) Martin, Lou Ellen (Gene) Fisk; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband and children’s father, Robert Wainright; second husband, Jarvis Miller; daughter, Ruth Warner; sister, Nancy Westervelt; brothers, Mick Misner and Arloe Misner. The family greeted friends Wednesday, May 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Thursday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. Philip Wainright officiating. Interment Rockford Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice or the Church of the Full Gospel, Sand Lake. Her hard work is now complete and her faith has become sight.

Shirley C. Boehm age 83 of Sand Lake, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Heather Hills, Grand Rapids. Mrs. Boehm was born September 22, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of George and Alice (DeLodge) Smith. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Winston; children, Gene (Gayle) Boehm, Debbie (Allan) Lehman, Joe (Jill) Boehm, Sally (Chuck) Haynes, Gil (Denise) Boehm, Tim (Teresa) Boehm, Tina (Tom) Tiethoff; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Marie. The family will greet friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. June J. (Klooster) Heeringa age 93 of Cedar Springs, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at her granddaughter’s home in Newaygo. Mrs. Herringa was born September 10, 1924 in Fremont, Michigan the daughter of Benjamin and Hattie (Luchies) Timmer. She grew up in Fremont and was a charter member of Pioneer Christian Reformed Church, Cedar Springs. She enjoyed traveling. Surviving are her children, Linda (Jack) Mulder, Rick (Mary) Klooster, Bob Klooster, Michelle Klooster; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Klooster in 1982 and Gilbert Heeringa; daughter, Mary Beth Opper in 2000; 2 brothers. Services were held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Chaplain Daniel Pflug officiating. Private interment Maple Grove Cemetery, Fremont.

Dorothy A. Helsel age 87 of Cedar Springs died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. Anne’s Home, Grand Rapids. Mrs. Helsel was born August 26, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Stanley and Francis (Blasczyzk) Jaskiewicz. She retired from General Motors Alpine Avenue plant. Dorothy loved and adored her grandchildren, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with close friends and family. She made rosaries and was very devoted to the rosary. Surviving are her daughters, Deb (Carl) Allen, Tena (Mike) Hoxsie; grandchildren, Mike (LesLee) Michalek, Joann (Matt) Johnson, John (Gwen) Michalek, Laura (Drew) Felsted, Kendall Hoxsie; great grandchildren, David, Jack, Mia, Lillie and Piper; brother, Ray (June) Jaskiewicz; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (Mic) Michalek; grandson, Todd Allen. A special thank you to St. Anne’s Home for their wonderful love, care and support. Beverly Gould (Reyburn) Feasel age 89 of Greenville, passed into the presence of God in Heaven Friday, April 27, 2018. She was born to Clarence and Helen Doane of Belmont on April 5, 1929. She married G. DeVerl Reyburn on Thanksgiving Day, 1947. Surviving are her children, Dale (Rhonda) Reyburn formerly of Greenville, now of Cedar Springs, Kris (Teri) Reyburn of DeWitt, Cynthia Brown of St. Johns, Deann (Robert) Brown of Lansing; step children, Carla Heiss and Frank Heiss; former daughter-in-law, Cindy (Paepke) Dobson and David Brown; brother, Daniel (Jane) Doane; sisters, Mary Holland and Phyllis (Don) Wirries; sister-in-law, Reatha Doane; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, G. DeVerl Reyburn, Franklin Heiss and Duane Feasel; brothers, Wallace and Robert Doane; step daughter, Dorothy Heiss. The family greeted friends Monday, April 30 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service was Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 315 N. Greenville West Dr., Greenville. Pastor Randy Williams officiating. Interment East Montcalm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Right to Life of Michigan and Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
