Cedar Springs Athletic Boosters Athletes of the Month


Jones, Kaupa, and Burrows are named Cedar Springs Athletic Boosters Student Athletes of the Month for October

Justin Jones

Justin Jones

Senior Justin Jones was named October Student Athlete of the Month for Cross Country. Justin has participated in Cross country all 4 years in high school, and is a team captain. Justin is a returning OK Bronze All-Conference runner and is on pace to do it again this season. He started the season strong finishing 4th in each of the first two races. Justin also participates in basketball and runs track. This is done all while maintaining a 3.4 GPA.

Coach Garrett Lacy comments “Justin is one of two co captains that we have on the team this year. He does a great job of leading by example on and off the field. Justin has worked hard to prepare for his senior year logging the most miles on the team this past summer. He is an exemplary student and does a great job managing his time amongst three varsity sports. Right now he is also taking dual enrollment classes at Grand Rapids Community College along with his high school work at Cedar Springs, as well as being an integral part of the cross-country team.”

Justin is the son of Mary and Tony Jones.

 

Nicole Kaupa

Nicole Kaupa

Senior Nicole Kaupa was named October Student Athlete of the month for Equestrian. Nicole has worked hard to improve for her senior year and is a leader on her team. Nicole has a 3.3 GPA.

Nicole’s coaches state that “Nicole has been a huge asset to our team. She is willing and able to try anything we throw at her. She has improved in both skill and attitude, and is always willing to lend a hand with her teammates. She is always early for practice and, asks for help when struggling with anything. We will miss you Nicole!!”

Nicole is the daughter of Kathy and Ted Kaupa.

 

Caden Burrows

Caden Burrows

Senior Caden Burrows was named October Student Athlete of the Month for Football. Caden a team captain is coming off a strong junior year in football, where he was named 2013 OK Bronze 1st team All-Conference. Caden plays both offensive and defensive line. The team is off to a great start at 5-1. Caden a multiple sport athlete is also a member of ALC and Red Hawk kids club. Caden has a 3.51 GPA .

Coach Kapolka comments, “Caden is one of the unquestioned leaders of our team. His rock solid leadership and even-keeled demeanor have led us to a 4-1 start. His work ethic serves as an example to the younger players in our program, and his performance on the field makes him one of the best linemen in the entire OK conference regardless of division.

Caden is the son of Kim and Tim Burrows.

Schreiber and Lenardson are named Cedar Springs Athletic Boosters Student Athletes of the Month for March

 

Kristen Schreiber

Kristen Schreiber

Senior Kristen Schreiber was named the March 2014 Student Athlete of the Month for Competitive Cheer. Kristen is wrapping up her high school career in competitive cheer, having been involved all 4 years, as well as participating 2 year in middle school. Kristen has a 3.93 GPA and will be attending Johnson and Wales University in Florida after graduation. Kristen also participates in Red hawk kids club and is a Rocket cheer coach.

Coach Ramirez comments, “Kristen has participated in Competitive cheer for the past 6 years. This year she has grown as a great leader, and advocate for her team. Next fall as she begins her college career pursuing a degree in culinary arts, I know they will be lucky to have such a dedicated hard working young lady to add to their program!”

Kristen is the daughter of Wendy Schreiber and Rob Hilton.

 

Baren Lenardson

Baren Lenardson

Senior Baren Lenardson was named the March 2014 Student Athlete of the Month for Wrestling. Baren is finishing an impressive career having accumulated an impressive 124 wins. He is a 2 time regional qualifier, and a conference champ. Baren excels in the classroom with a 3.8 GPA. Baren is also a member of the Jazz band. After graduation Baren will attend Michigan Tech to pursue a degree in computer engineering.

Coach Nick Emery says “Baren was the hardest worker in the room, especially in the second half of his senior season! He demonstrated great leadership ability! All while balancing, wrestling, 2 AP classes, and playing trumpet in the band. He ends his CSHS career as one of the most winning wrestlers in school history!”

Baren is the son of Chris Ellis and Rick Lenardson.
