Dorothy A. Quist 84 of Cedar Springs went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Green Acres of Cedar Springs. Mrs. Quist was born October 4, 1933 in Arlene, MI the daughter of Adrian and Bertha (Visscher) Fryling. She graduated from Manton High School in 1950, had a Master’s degree from Michigan State University and taught reading and music in Cedar Springs for 20 years retiring in 1993. She attended Pilgrim Bible Church. Music was her life, playing in church, as a worship leader, giving lessons, playing at weddings and for plays with the Cedar Springs Community Players. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Chester; daughter, Jackie (Dave) Mourer; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Quist; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Ray) Bigelow; sister-in-law, Patricia Fryling. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; 16 brothers and sisters-in-law. The family will greet friends Thursday, August 2 from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm at Pilgrim Bible Church, 361 Pine St. Cedar Springs. Pastor Mike Shiery officiating. Private interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

ELLA MAE KNOCH


 

C-obit-knochElla Mae (Mosher) Knoch, 89, of Cedar Springs, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Vista Springs. Ella Mae was born October 29, 1926 in Cadillac, Michigan the daughter of Clifford and Lavona (Stark) Joslin. She was a longtime member of Pilgrim Bible Church and had served as secretary and treasurer. She enjoyed sewing and taught a sewing class at Pilgrim Bible Academy. She had been active working the voting booths for Ensley Township. She loved the Lord, her church and her family. Surviving are her husband, Walter Knoch Sr. whom she married on December 12, 2010; son, Rodney (Sue) Mosher; seven stepchildren; grandsons, Kenneth (Stephanie) Mosher, Peter (Grace) Mosher; great grandchildren, Greyson, Hazelle, Kiptyn, Hunter, Bosten and a granddaughter on the way; many step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Harry (Sarah) Joslin, Elwyn (Goldie) Joslin; sister, Orpha Nicholson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a husband, Maynard Mosher; daughter and son-in-law, Connie (Richard) Tiede; great-granddaughter, Emery Mosher; brother, Leon Joslin; sister, Olive Hurst. The family will greet friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be held Monday 11:00 am at Pilgrim Bible Church, Cedar Springs. Pastor Michael Shiery officiating. Interment Crandall Cemetery, Ensley Township. Memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimers Association or Pilgrim Bible Church.

LELA R. SPICER


 

Lela R. Spicer, 87, of Traverse City, formerly of Cedar Springs, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions with her family by her side. Mrs. Spicer was born August 18, 1928 in Barryton, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Edith (Adams) VanSyckle, she was one of 17 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1988 and a son, Danny in 2015. Surviving are her children, Patty (Steven) Osburn, Bruce (Rose) Spicer, Roger (Pat) Spicer, Debra VandenHeuvel, Rockland (Teresa) Spicer, Theodore (Tracy) Spicer, Gail (Dave) Spicer; countless beautiful and gorgeous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A private family graveside service was held at East Nelson Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Larry and Debbie Eadie sang and led the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association.
