Blessing of the Bicycles

June 24: Event to be held on Saturday, June 24th from 1-3 pm at The Springs Church parking lot, corner of Oak and First St. Several used Bikes have been graciously donated this year and will be available for those that may not have a bike, while supplies last. We will also have minor bike repairs on site and many fun things for the kids to do. The Blessing will be given at 2:30 pm by Pastor Greig followed by a new bike give away. Blessing is open to riders of all ages. Hope to see you there! #24,25p

Praise the Lord at Cowboy Church

June 25: 2nd Chance will be having Cowboy Church on Sunday, June 25th at 6 pm. It will be at 2nd Chance School at 810 – 17 Mile Rd. Cedar Springs (corner of 17 Mile and Olin Lakes Rd). The message and gospel music will be shared by Jerry Pell and friend. Jerry is a member of the gospel music group “Alive” that has been at Cowboy Church.  Invite your family and friends. Cowboy Church will be every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Each service will have different people sharing God’s word and music. Cowboy Church will introduce you to 2nd Chance and its vision. The school is in the building stage, which when completed, will teach troubled teens through God and the horse. If you have questions, call 616-293-2150. See you there! #25p

June 27: Join us for a blast with the 61Syx Teknique! They provide a high energy, interactive, all ages performance that displays the roots of HipHop Culture in its purest form. Tuesday, June 27th at the Cedar Springs Community Library, 107 N. Main St. #25

Senior Lunch at Pine Grove Community Church

June 28:  Fellas take your gal and a few of your best friends, pile in the ol’ Packard and come on over to the Pine Grove Senior Grill and check out the new menu for this year’s Picnic.  The cooks are quietly planning back there in the kitchen.  There are whispers of Brats or Burgers or other picnic stuff hot off the grill.  Have heard of sides of Tater Salad, Baked Beans and Melon.  For all those age 60 and over we’re throwing our annual “Grill Picnic” at Noon the 28th of June.  Come ‘n help us celebrate an early Independence Day!  Our picnic ground grill can be found on the Northwest corner of M-82 and Beech Ave. #25

July 1: Visit friendly farm animals with the Critter Barn of Zeeland. For all ages. Saturday, July 1st at 1:30 pm at the Nelson Township/ Sand Lake KDL Branch, 88 Eighth St., Sand Lake. #25

Help Promote Literacy

July 6,10,19,28: The need is urgent at this time! The Literacy Center of West Michigan has scheduled  information sessions for prospective volunteer tutors. These sessions last one hour. It allows persons interested in becoming volunteer tutors to find out more about the Literacy Center and its programs. At the end of the session there will be a chance to sign up for tutor training. Sessions are Thursday, July 6th at 2 pm, Monday, July 10th at 6 pm, Wednesday July 19th at 10 am and Friday, July 28th at 2 pm. By training people to be tutors, the Center can offer one-on-one reading help to adults asking for assistance in reading or English as a Second Language (ESL). You do not need to speak another language to tutor ESL. The Literacy Center of West Michigan is located at 1120 Monroe Ave., NW, Suite 240, Grand Rapids. Musical by the Flat River Community Players

July 7: Flat River Community Players present the musical, “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” at 7:30 pm on July 7,8,14 and 15, and at 2:00 pm on Sunday July 9 at the Greenville Area Community Center. Wild Wednesdays at HCNC

July 12,19,26: Howard Christensen Nature Center, 16160 Red Pine Drive, Kent City, is offering Wild Wednesdays this summer (July & August) for ages 5 – 15 starting on July 12th from 10 am to 2 pm. July 12th “Insect Inspection”, July 19th “Turtles, Frogs and things under logs.” $8 per non-member (per day). Please dress for the outdoors.
