AWANA Program Kick Off

Sept. 8: The Solon Center Wesleyan Church will kick off its AWANA program on Wednesday, September 8 at 6:30 PM.  AWANA is a program for children ages 3 through 5th grade where kids learn God’s Word and have fun doing it!   Please come a few minutes early the first night to register.  The church is located at 15671 Algoma Avenue, just north of 19 Mile Road.  Questions?  Call 696-3229. #35b

Learn about grasshoppers

Sept. 8: Learn about grasshoppers with Ranger Steve Mueller on Wednesday, September 8 at 7pm at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (140 S. Main St.) Join us for this free program as a part of our Family Nature Program series. Co-sponsored by Howard Christensen Nature Center and Wittenbach/Wege Agri-science and Environmental Education Center. All are welcome for pizza at 6pm. Talent Show tryouts

Sept. 9: Organizers for the Red Flannel Talent Show is looking for local talent to showcase this year on Red Flannel Day, Oct. 2. Have talent? Bring it on! We are looking for singers, dancers, variety acts and all forms of talent. Tryouts for the show will take place at the Kent Theatre on September 9 at 7pm. Archery Breakfast Shoot

American Sewing Guild meeting

Sept. 14: Talented designer, Sopheap “Sam” Hettinga will preview her creations for the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital cancer research benefit, “Portraits in Time” for the Grand Rapids Chapter, American Sewing Guild. Included are runway fashions, and Robert Tonner Fashion Dolls dressed in evening and bridal wear. Formerly, Sam worked with American designer Cynthia Rowley. The meeting is Tuesday, September 14 at the Plainfield Senior Center, 5255 Grand River Drive NE in Grand Rapids. Doors open at 6:30 pm; the program begins at 7:00.
