I want to thank all who sent cards or came for my 90th Birthday, and for my family for making it a special day.

We would like to thank Fr. John Kirkman and Pederson Funeral Home for the beautiful service they provided for our husband, father and grandfather, Tom Green.

Also, those who sent floral arrangements and such beautiful cards of sympathy, brought in food, visited, called or sent thoughts or prayers which brought such comfort and help to us in the loss of our loved one.

Thanks, too, to the many who donated to the COPD and Macular Degeneration Foundations in honor of Tom.

A special thank you to the Cedar Springs Baptist Church for hosting the luncheon. It had special meaning for me as Tom and I were married there and began our lives together in 1947. Life has come full circle with it ending there after nearly 65 years.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to have been a teacher in Cedar Springs. I wish to thank the School Boards past and present. I wish to thank the following Superintendents: Mr. McCarty, Mr. Tackmann, Mr. Elliott, Mrs. Rypma, Mr. Booth, and Mr. McDermed. I wish to thank the following principals: Mr. Nielsen, Mrs. Marvin, Ms. Abuhl, Mrs. Engblade, Mrs. Rypma, Mr. McDermed, and Mr. Duffy. I wish to thank the Cedar Springs Public School Community (support and teaching). I wish to thank the students and their parents who I was allowed to serve. I wish to thank my family, also.
I have been truly blessed to work in my district. The district I grew up in. The district I live in. The district I worship in. The district that puts our students’ education first.
Our district, with limited funding, is continually creating educational opportunities for our students that are noteworthy. Our district has a professional commitment at all levels with all staff to constantly improve. Our district sets the standard for others to follow.
This is why I am thankful to be associated with Cedar Springs Public Schools.

Where do we start? We are saddened by the decision to step down as our Fire Chief, but under the circumstances we can’t blame you for your decision.

When you became our #1, there was a lot to do to get us up to date and get us where we should have been. You took that challenge head on and did an amazing job and made us who we are as a fire department today. We are glad that you will continue to stay on the dept. with us as a firefighter, so we will still have your knowledge, leadership, and experience. Again we thank you for an amazing 11 years. Some people don’t know what they are losing.
