Gallery by Ives

If you are looking to buy an item made by a local crafter, or looking for a special home décor or gift item, you might want to check out a new store located at 60 N. Main called Gallery by Ives.

Owner Sheila Ives opened the store on June 15, after working over 20 years in real estate. “I wanted to see downtown Cedar Springs have a unique store for people to purchase from,” she said.

Ives said the store offers unique, trendy home décor and furnishings, gifts, and a ladies clothing boutique. They have locally sourced artists, crafters, and vendors offering a wide variety of items. “We attend shows to stay current and offer the very latest and trendy products, especially the unique and hard to find,” she said.

In the future, Ives plans to add more inventory and fill the store with items not found at the big box stores. She said the store would have an aesthetic inside facelift this month. “I’m welcoming new employees and new vendors,” she added.

Hours are 11-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; Saturday 11-7 p.m.; and Sunday and Monday by appointment. Call 616-263-9545 for more information.

Watson Rockford celebrates grand opening

The Watson Family of Auto Dealerships, also known as “Watson Country,” has added Rockford as another destination for car and truck buyers to shop. Watson Country is already well known for excellent customer and community service on the west side of Michigan with Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat dealerships in Benzie, Manistee, Ludington and Nature and Me RV in Traverse City.

With several metropolitan auto dealerships expanding to Northern Michigan, Watson’s expansion to the south in Rockford may be a first for a Northern Michigan auto dealer. Watson Country’s expansion outside of Northern Michigan to Rockford is a logical step for the family friendly dealership.

“I think we may be the first to go south! We’re excited to bring the Watson Country way of doing business to Rockford and the greater Grand Rapids market,” said general manager Cody Watson. “We are very enthused to offer car and truck buyers from Traverse City to Grand Rapids a large selection of products and of course a great price and incredible customer service.”

Watson Rockford started with a temporary location at 4700 14 Mile Rd NE in Rockford. The all-new 23,800-square foot Watson Rockford location celebrated the Grand Opening of their new location at 4395 14 Mile Rd on Friday and Saturday, September 28-29.

The business will employ over 20 people, and they have a large selection of new and previously owned cars and trucks.

Watson’s operates under one basic premise, “We put your family into a vehicle that we would put our own family in.” Watson believes that Watson Country’s expansion to Rockford also means good things for the local community because the dealerships are heavily involved in the communities that they serve. “It’s all about giving back,” said Cody Watson. “We’re excited about Rockford because this store will be state of the art. We were able to design it from the ground up with the focus on our customers.”

Coming soon: Flo’s Wood Fired Pizzeria

If you’d like to try an authentic Sicilian wood fired pizza, you shouldn’t have long to wait. Flo’s Wood Fired Pizza will be opening in late August at 4425 14 Mile Rd (formerly the site of the old Crazy Horse saloon).

This will be a brand new location and concept for Dan and Davide Uccello, who own several restaurants in northern Kent and Montcalm County. “This will be the first wood fired pizzeria in our restaurant group,” they said.

The pizzeria will offer authentic wood fired pizzas, traditional appetizers, salads, and flat bread sandwiches. What is unique is that patrons will see them do it.

“We will provide an open kitchen concept so you can watch us make your food, and we also imported a meat slicer to slice all meat per order,” they explained.

For those who would like a glass of wine with their pizza, St. Julian’s Winery will have a tasting room right next door.

The brothers said they plan to grow this concept into 10-plus locations over the course of 10-12 years.
