The Post travels to Spain

Marina Dalmau, from Barcelona, Spain, visited Cedar Springs as a foreign exchange student this summer. She is now back in Spain at the beach of Tamariu, in Costa Brava, Spain on holiday for the month of August and she took a Post with her!

Marina was here for six weeks, and stayed with the family of Shawn and Katy Austin. “During that time she attended The Springs Church with us, and was the official Photography assistant at VBS,” said Katy. “We enjoyed going to Lake Michigan with our neighbors and family. We went to Grand Haven, Ferrysburg, and Silver Lake. We also went to John Ball Zoo, attended a movie at The Kent Theater, and enjoyed lunch at the Cedar Springs Brewing Company. Our neighborhood called it “The Summer of Marina,’ as we all enjoyed showing her the best that Pine Lake had to offer, including swimming, boating and bonfires.”

It sounds like you all had a great summer, and thank you to Marina for taking us with you to Spain!

We asked our readers on Facebook to tell us how they celebrated the Fourth of July. Shannon Maurer said they took the Post with them to celebrate the holiday! “We are enjoying our holiday on the Beartooth Highway and we brought the Post with us,” she wrote. “It is in Montana and Wyoming.”

According to Wikipedia, the Beartooth Highway is an All-American Road on a section of U.S. Route 212 in Montana and Wyoming between Red Lodge and the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park, passing over the Beartooth Pass at 10,947 feet above sea level.

Post travels to Dominican Republic for wedding

The Post traveled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in June, with Amy Johnson and Grant Gould, of Cedar Springs, for a destination wedding! Grant and Amy became Mr. and Mrs. Grant Gould on June 20, 2017 on Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana. They stopped to take a photo on the beach with the Post during their wedding reception, where they celebrated with 40 of their close family members and friends. The Post they are holding in the photo had their engagement inside.
While in the Dominican Republic, the couple went out on the ocean in a boat and went snorkeling, swam with sharks, swam with stingrays, and got kissed by a sea lion on the cheek! “Punta Cana was absolutely beautiful,” said Amy.
Congratulations to the happy couple, and thank you for letting us be a part of it!

Post travels to Shipshewana

Hannah, 10, and her sister Hailey, 8, pose with The POST.

The Post recently traveled with the Dempsey family, of Solon Township, to Shipshewana, Indiana.

Hannah, 10, her sister Hailey, 8, mom Kathy, and grandma Joyce Petersen stayed over night at the Blue Gate Hotel, where they swam a lot. They had fun at the petting zoo, did lots of shopping at the flea market, and enjoyed lots of good food. They waited to go on a horse and buggy ride, but the line was too long, so they went back to their hotel, and lo and behold, a carriage was parked right in front of the hotel! So the girls got their Cinderella carriage ride after all!

Thanks so much for taking us with you!
