The Post travels to Hawaii

The Cedar Springs Post recently left the chilly Michigan weather behind and traveled to warmer weather in our 50th state—Hawaii—with Cedar Springs City Manager Mike Womack.

He is shown here with the Post in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue in front of Kuhio Beach in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.

We are jealous, Mike! Please bring back some of that warm weather with you!

The Post travels to Greece

Rachel and Josh Hunt on the island of Hydra, in Greece.

The Post recently went on an adventure to explore ancient Greece, with Rachel and Josh Hunt.

“We started off in Athens with a walking tour of the city, and then explored the Acropolis,” said Rachel. “We then traveled to Olympia to see the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the ruins at Mycenae. Next we traveled to Delphi and toured the ruins on the slopes of Mount Parnassos.”

Delphi is the site of the 4th-century-B.C. Temple of Apollo, once home to a legendary oracle. This extensive mountainside archaeological complex contains the remains of the sanctuaries of Apollo and Athena Pronaia, as well as an ancient stadium and theater.

She said they concluded the trip with a traditional Greek feast and a day cruise to Hydra, Poros, and Aegina islands.

Thank you, Rachel and Josh, for taking us with you!

The Post travels to Empire snowmobile races

Charlie and Kathy Prahl and daughter, Katia Corwin, recently took the Cedar Springs Post to the Empire Airport Roy Taghon Memorial Snowmobile Races. It was a cold 15-degree day but they enjoyed watching the sleds race, visiting family and friends, and celebrating many memories of Roy (Kathy’s brother) who went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2008.

Thank you to the Prahl family for taking us with you!

Post travels to California

Solon Township residents Ken and TJ Norris got a great gift from friends in Southern California over the Christmas weekend: a visit to warm weather! The daytime temperatures were in the low 70s but it got cold (by Southern California  standards) at night—the low 50s. This photo is taken at Point Magu beach, just south of Ventura.

Thanks so much to Ken and TJ for taking us with you!

Post travels to Great Britain

Earlier this fall, Kathleen Zersen (Heiss) picked up a Post and tucked it away in her suitcase to travel with her on a six-week trip to Great Britain.

“I started out at London, England, then went to Scotland, Ireland, and Wales,” said Kathleen. “What a beautiful trip.”

She traveled with a friend from Arizona, Diana Yarbrough, who is from England.

Kathleen loved taking her trip, and wished she’d done it sooner. Her travel tip? “Travel while you’re young!” she said.

Thanks so much for taking us with you!
