Our cross country JV Lady Hawks competed at the Kent Ottawa Invitational this past Saturday, October 16, at the Gainey Athletic Complex. They placed a respectable third place out of seven teams.  Hannah Reed (8th) stayed in a great position for the entire race, even after cramping up after the first half of the course.  Next, we had Addyson Brown (18th) closing gaps and moving up in position. Emily Hoort (22nd) ran a smart and great race for herself as well as helping her teammates move up in the process.  Kaisa Maki (23rd) was not too far behind and did an excellent job staying right with Emily. Addison Wood (26th) ran a strong race, keeping her opponents around her close for a strong finish. Allie Teuscheur (33rd) ran strong throughout and battled the tough course. Rounding out our JV squad was Madison Viau (45th) who ran a great race and got through it well. There were 79 runners competing in this race.

“The course was the same as it is every year; muddy, sloppy, and wet which makes it tough, but fun!” said Coach Melinda Stressman. “I am proud of everyone who competed today and to those on the varsity side who could make out and support their teammates. We battled on a tough course but ran smart and finished in a great spot as a team. We rested our varsity runners this week in preparation for our final conference meet. I am excited to watch them compete the rest of the season. Our main focus for this week is the conference meet, where are our girls are tied for 3rd as a team.”
