Waunetta Marie Verburg, age 98, went home to her Lord and Savior late Sunday, May 30, 2021. She was born March 26, 1923 in Fenton. Waunetta was a very faithful servant of the Lord, and greatly loved reading the word of God. She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church. Waunetta deeply loved her family, who will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Verburg; son-in-law, Jake “Buzz” Woodwyk; four brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her children, Jerry (Joanne) Verburg of Cedar Springs, Susan Woodwyk of Belmont, Carol (Jim) Piatt of Greenville, and Sandy (Pastor Mike) Austin of Greenville. Funeral services celebrating Waunetta’s salvation through faith in Jesus Christ will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to the service. Waunetta’s son-in-law, Pastor Mike Austin, will serve as officiant. Interment will be in Algoma Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Liberty Baptist Church or Spectrum Health Hospice.
