Matthew John Davis, “Matt” of St Mary’s, GA, formerly of Cedar Springs, MI, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2021 at home.  He was 38. Matt was born August 15, 1982 in Kingman, Az but spent the majority of his growing up years in Michigan in the Ionia and Cedar Springs area. He graduated from Cedar Springs High School in 2001. He went on to join the Army National guard where he received specialized training in HVAC. He took his training to Georgia where he continued to develop skills in all aspects of the building trades with a passion and particular skill for finish carpentry and woodworking. He was an active member in his church in St Mary’s and spent several years mentoring through his church youth program and participating in small group. Matt had a strong love of family but his greatest pride and joy was his son, Joe. They spent many summers and school breaks adventuring together in Georgia and Florida. He is survived by his son, Joseph Davis of Stanwood; his parents, Roger and Deb (Winchester) Gren of Manton; his sisters, Sarah (Joey) Butler of Greenville, Rachel (Sean) Hinkle of Cleveland, OH, Deborah (DJ) Davis (Josh Earl) of Cedar Springs, Naomi (Chuck) Johnson, Amanda (Alex) Rodriguez and his brothers, Stephen (Jessica) Gren of Greenville, Robert Escabi of Grand Rapids. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Denise and Jeffrey Montgomery, Daniel and Terry Winchester, Janet and John Parker, Joann and David Gren, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his father, Joseph Davis. At his request, Matt was cremated and a service of memorial will be held Thursday, May 27, 11 a.m. at Green Corners Baptist Church, Belding, MI.  A luncheon and time of visiting will follow afterwards at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: To Write Love on her Arms at http://twloha.com
