WILLIAM JACK DUNAVEN

Mr. William Jack Dunaven, age 86, of Cedar Springs, passed away on April 29, 2021 in Cedar Springs, MI. He was born on November 17, 1934 to Ted and Laura (Houting) Dunaven in Courtland Township, MI. He graduated from Cedar Springs High School in 1954 and also completed the General Motors Mechanic School. Jack worked as a Farmer and was a Diesel Mechanic for Penninsular Diesel. On July 11, 1981 he married Donna (Kozdrey) Patin at Mary Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, Sand Lake. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 8425, Sand Lake, Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish, and Our Lady of Consolation Parish. He was known for his quick wit and love for people. Jack could strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime and any where it seemed. He was always available to offer his assistance. Jack is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Dunaven, their children, David (Judy) Dunaven, Scott Dunaven, Jackie Nowicki, Christine (Ron) Veltkamp, David (Michelle) Patin, Susanne (Dan) Hansen, Jeanne (Rick) Leale, Jerry (Kim) Patin, 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Joyce Veltkamp, brother-in-law, Earl Tefft, sister-in-law, Mary Elna (Ray) Dauchy, sister-in-law, Kathleen (Doug) Cooke, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Emily Patin, his parents Ted and Laura May Dunaven and brother-in-law Raymond Veltkamp. Jack was also preceded in death by his first wife, Luberta “Birdie” Tefft Dunaven. The Mass of Christian Burial for Jack was offered on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Rockford, Michigan, with Fr. Tony Russo, and Fr. Lam Le concelebrating. Visitation was on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass at the Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Burial will take place in the Courtland Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Right to Life of Michigan, 2340 Porter St., S.W., Wyoming, MI 49519.
