Each month, CTA focuses on a character trait that students and staff learn about and implement into school, home, and community. Students have a daily opportunity to demonstrate that character trait.
At the elementary level, classroom teachers spend time each day discussing and teaching around this trait with their students, and Elementary Principal Mrs. Bialkowski does a weekly lunch greeting to connect with students around the character traits. Staff gives students character cards that fill buckets in the elementary entrance. Students also have the opportunity to recognize classmates they see demonstrating the qualities of the monthly trait.
In the secondary building, teachers and students dialogue around what it looks like to live out these character traits, and teachers hand out nomination slips to students they notice are putting the featured character trait into action. These slips are displayed on hallway bulletin boards and each nomination is entered into a drawing for a gift card.
For the month of September, the focus was on CARING.
This month CTA recognized several Chargers that were caught demonstrating CARING, and those individuals that took the time to nominate them.
