Croton man fatally stabbed

A 33-year-old Croton man was arrested earlier this week for the stabbing death of another Croton man.

On March 8, 2020 at 11:17 p.m., the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 5939 E. Maple Street in Croton Township for an assault in progress. When Deputies arrived on scene, they located a 64-year-old male on the floor with multiple stab wounds. The victim, later identified as Craig Carle, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A 33-year-old male from Croton was taken into custody. He was identified as Max Wallace William Carle, and was charged with first-degree premeditated murder. 

The relationship between the two men was not released. 

The suspect was arraigned on Monday, March 9, and ordered held without bond. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
