Eighteen youth Red Hawks traveled to Wyoming High School last Sunday for another MyWAY West Region tournament. The Red Hawks saw stiff competition as they battled wrestlers from 48 other schools. The CSY Wrestlers finished 9th on the day in terms of total pins with 18 in 35 minutes.

Coach Kevin Fitzgerald had this to say about the day’s wrestling. “Being that we haven’t had regular practices due to the holidays, I was expecting to see a little rust today but overall I saw a lot of really good wrestling!”

Starting off the action for the Red Hawks was Ethan Trompen, with a 2nd place finish in the 2013-15 age group 58/64lb bracket. In the 2011-12 age group, both Hudson Cassiday (55lbs) and Brycen Alber (46/49lbs) both managed 1st place finishes. Rounding out the age group was a pair of 3rd place finishes by Dillon VanDyke (67lbs) and Jaxon Fitzgerald(77/82lbs).

The 2009-10 age group saw two more Red Hawks take 1st place with Elijah Elam winning the 54lb weight class and Jon Libera winning the 95lb bracket. In the 2007-08 age group, Joh Elam finished in 4th place in the 75lb weight bracket and Rory Schoenborn ended the day with a 3rd place finish in the 112lb bracket.

This Sunday the Red Hawks will travel to Sparta High School for another MyWAY West Region tournament.
