Nationals Midwest 2019 Tour and Orchard View results

West Michigan Pursuit traveled to Rochester Minnesota for the Yellow Jacket Nationals 2019 Midwest Tour Saturday, December 14. Eleven grapplers entered to compete and eight finished in the medal rounds. There were over 150 teams registered and WMP finished 6th for highest team score.

There were 32 victories claimed out of 48 matches. 90 lb Harper Cheng, 5/6 grade went 5-2 for the day finishing 5th. 86 lb Tyler Parmeter, 5/6 grade went 4-2 for the day finishing 5th. 85 lb Alex Buskirk, 7/8 grade went 2-2 for the day finishing 4th. 52 lb Brody Compau 3/4 grade went 3-1 finishing 3rd. 82 lb Luke Egan, 5/6 grade went 2-1; 95 lb Ayden McClurken, 7/8 grade went 3-1 and 80 lb Josh Vasquez went 3-1 all finishing 2nd for the day. Champion of the day is 78 lb Quinten Cassiday, 5/6 grade went 4-0.

On Sunday, December 14, WMP stayed in the West region and travelled to Orchard View. Seventeen grapplers entered to compete and 14 placed in the medal rounds. There were 47 teams registered and WMP finished 4th for highest team score. Orchard View finished 1st with 441 team points, Otsego with 324 team points, Comstock Park with 318 team points and WMP with 284 team points. 42 victories were claimed out of 58 matches. 

75 lb Evan Andrews, 11/12 age group and 80 lb Alex Russo, 11/12 age group finished 4th. 63 lb Brennan Dietz, 9/10 age group and Kamden Witte, 11/12 age group both finished 3rd. 64 lb Dylan Russo 7/8 age group; 49 lb Kooper Witte, 7/8 age group and 63 lb Landon Learn, 9/10 age group all finished 2nd. Champions of the day were 55 lb Jaxson Babcock, 7/8 age group; 77/82 lb JJ Petersen, 7/8 age group; 49 lb Emmett Russo, 5/6 age group; 52 lb Ethan VanDyke, 5/6 age group; 100/105 lb Blake Peasley, 11/12 age group; 54/57 lb Kassie Sapp, 9/10 age group and 60 lb Jace Schut, 9/10 age group. 

“This is a great start to the season, keep up the great work!” said Heach Coach Dave Andrus. “Congratulations to each of you who came to compete. You left it all on the mat and coaches Dave and Bill are proud of how you represented West Michigan Pursuit.”
