Red Hawk volleyball ends season at districts


The Cedar Springs Lady Red Hawks volleyball team ended their season with a record of 26-23-4.

Cedar Springs Varsity volleyball closed out the season with a crushing loss to Forest Hills Northern in the home District quarterfinal match Monday, November 4th, 19-25, 11-25 and 19-25. 

In the week prior to the district match the Lady Red Hawks took 2nd place at the Central Montcalm Hornet Invite on Saturday November 2 losing to Cadillac in the Championship match (20-25, 11-25). The team beat Central Montcalm (25-12, 25-20), Pellston (25-21, 25-11) and tied Grant (20-25,25-17) placing them in the Gold semi finals where they beat Tri County 15-25, 25-14, 15-12. On October 29th Cedar Springs lost at Forest Hills Northern in their final conference match (10-25, 25-22, 12-25 20-25). 

Leaders for the District home match included senior Grace Pavelka with 5 kills and 3 service points. Arianna Rau tallied 3 kills and a block while Kayla Andres recorded 3 kills and 4 digs. Outside hitter Grace Wilcox contributed 2 kills and 3 digs while Libero Kyla Andres had 9 digs and 25 serve receptions. Senior setter Madison Outwin put up 14 assists, while Kallie Green had 2 kills.

“We are so proud of the girls for their growth from beginning to the end of the season. They laid a solid foundation for our program to build on next year and many years to come,” stated Varsity Coach Ashley Lowing.      

Varsity Volleyball ends the season with an overall record of 26-23-4 and conference record 5-7.
