Deer sprouting new antlers

Deer shed their antlers each year after mating, and begin to grow them again in the spring. We have photographic proof it’s happening right now.

Reader Keith Coalter sent us this photo of a deer starting to push new antlers through. He said he caught the image on one of his game cameras, north of Cedar Springs. Thanks, Keith, for sending us your photo!

If anyone has a wildlife or wildflower photo they would like to submit, send it news@cedarspringspost.com, along with some information about the photo. We will print as space allows.
