Sharlene D. Towns, age 62, of Cedar Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Sharlene was born March 29, 1956 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of William and Phyllis (Fazer) Collins. Shar had a very strong, unwavering faith in her Lord. Shar’s favorite pastime was spending time on the backwaters of the Muskegon River houseboating with her husband, Lance, family, grandchildren and friends. She loved adventure and was quick to let everyone know about her sharp shooter skills. If at any time someone told her she couldn’t do it, she would prove them wrong and do it better. Nothing could hold her back. She loved dragonflies and horses. Shar touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Surviving are her loving husband of 28 years, Lance; children, daughter Tina (Aaron) Kandler and son, Joshua Vann; grandchildren, Amanda Weber, Katherine Weber, Destiny Vann and Cameron Vann; mother and father-in-law, Mick and Trudy Towns; brother, James Collins; nephews, Jeremiah Redder and Matthew Redder; niece, Jodi Donkin and many other nieces and nephews. Shar was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Jane Redder and brother, Michael Collins. Her wishes were to be cremated and have a gathering at her home. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday January 26, 2019 at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital or to the Humane Society of Kent County.
