One dead in Tyrone crash


The Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, September 23.

Police said the vehicle crashed into a tree near the intersection of Rusco and Sparta Avenue, in Tyrone Township.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling east on Rusco when it went through the stop sign and hit some trees on the east side of Sparta Ave. The vehicle started on fire. 

At press time, the name of the driver had not been released.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kent City/Tyrone Twp Fire Department and Rockford Ambulance.
