Garage & Bake Sale Benefit

July 13-14: Algoma Baptist Church, 10515 Grange Ave., Rockford, is hosting a Garage and Bake Sale Benefit for North Kent Connect on Friday, July 13th from 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday, July 14th from 9 am – 3 pm. Older vintage tools, knick knacks, garden tools, clothing, books, golf clubs, exercise equipment, glassware, musical instruments, fishing lures, music boxes, toys, miscellaneous items too numerous to mention. #28p

CS Youth Football League Fundraiser

July 14: The Cedar Springs Youth Football League (CSYFL) will be holding an all age fundraising event on Saturday, July 14th from 10 am to 2 pm at Skinner Field, 90 Cedar St. Tickets are two for $1.00. Tickets  will be used for all events except concessions and spirit wear (cash & credit accepted). It will feature a dunk take, kids games, bake sale, succulent plant sale (cash only), can drive, gift basket raffles, spirit wear and concessions. Can Drive drop off Friday, July 13 at Family Farm & Home 8 am – 8 pm, Saturday, July 14 at Skinner Field 8 am – 4 pm, and Sunday, July 15 at Family Farm & Home 8 am – 8pm. All proceeds will go to CSYFL. #28

VBS @ Resurrection Lutheran Church

July 16-20: Join us as we discover Jesus from eternity past to eternity future with Time Lab Vacation Bible School at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 180 Northland Drive, Sand Lake. Michigan Blood Drive

July 17: Michigan Blood will have a Blood Drive on Tuesday, July 17th at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church. The Drive will go from 12:30 pm until 7:00 pm. HOT DOG DAYS! A member of the Cedar Springs Women Club will be grilling hot dogs for all who attempt to donate. More importantly, each donation has the potential to save three lives. Come have lunch/supper with us and help a neighbor in Michigan. #28

Wild About Books & Animals?

July 17: Are you wild about books AND wild about animals? Then you want to come to the Cedar Springs Library Community Room on Tuesday, July 17 from 1 -2 pm for an exciting look at live animals from different countries and diverse ecosystems. This program is up-close, hands-on, safe and FUN! #28

Alohorma! Unlock Your Harry Potter Drawing Skills

July 18: Corinne Roberts, local illustration artist, is back with a family friendly, Harry Potter drawing session. Parents or guardians are strongly encouraged to attend and assist their children. Archeology Workshop @ HCNC

July 24-26: Uncover artifacts from Howard Christensen Nature Center’s past. July 24-26 from 10 am to 2 pm. Cost $20 members, $24 nonmembers. Minimum age: 9 years old. Lead by Interpretive Instructor, Karen Fiebig, this workshop will require hard work. Please bring gloves, a trowel, a shovel, an old paint brush, lunch and bottled water – all labeled with your name. The number of participants will be determined by the number of adults available to supervise younger participants. May be a first come, first serve event, so please register. Ensley Crime Watch 5K & Picnic

July 28: The Ensley Crime Watch Annual 5K and Community Picnic will be held on Saturday, July 28th at Baptist Lake Park, 8810 Oak Drive, Sand Lake. All ages are welcome to join the fun! Pre-registration forms for the 5K race and details of our annual event is available on line at http://ensleytownship.org/crime watch.htm. Race: Saturday, July 28th begins at 9 am (registration the day of the race at 8:30 am) Picnic: Saturday, July 28th begins at 11:30 am. Firemen grill hotdogs and additional items on the menu are chips, cookies, homemade pies, coffee, pop and more. There is a small fee for the food. Special guests include the Sand Lake fire department (trucks and equipment), Newaygo County Sheriff (K9 team, SWAT vehicles, Marine Patrol and Dive team), kids bounce house. There will be a 50/50 raffle, and nearly $1,000 in prizes donated by local businesses and individuals that will be raffled off. The afternoon concludes with candidates running for local office available for a meet and greet. All proceeds for the events will help the Sand Lake Fire Department purchase life saving rescue equipment. #28,29p
