WMP travels around the state; earns 49 victories

West Michigan Pursuit entered 18 grapplers to wrestle at individual tournaments this weekend and 16 finished in the top 4. 

Two entered as part of the Greenville MYWAY Team State tournament. 62 lb Evan Andrews and 67 lb Kamden Witte entered Greenville’s 6th Grade and Under Team. Both Andrews and Witte went 4-1 for the day earning All State recognition. Their team finished 3rd. 

85 lb Blake Peasley travelled to St. Johns. Peasley went undefeated and claimed another Championship Title. 

WMP had seven grapplers travel to Fruitport. 58 lb Desmond Smith, 7/8 age group finished 4th. 75 lb Tyler Parmeter, 9/10 age group and 80/85 lb Isaiah Sostenes, 9/10 age group both finished 2nd. Champions of the day are 75 lb Harper Cheng, 9/10 age group; 71 lb Luke Egan, 9/10 age group and 55 lb Kaleb Pautke, 7/8 age group. 

The rest of the team travelled to Traverse City for the Far North Greights tournament. 85 lb Alex Buskirk, 9/10 age group and 49 lb Blake Werkema, 7/8 age group finished 3rd. 63 lb Quinten Cassiday, 9/10 age group and 59 lb Kellen Weckesser, 9/10 age group finished 2nd. Champions of the day are 43 lb Brody Compau, 7/8 age group; 75 lb Ayden McClurken, 9/10 age group; 64 lb Drew Moro, 7/8 age group; 58 lb Aaiden Vasquez, 7/8 age group and 70 lb Josh Vasquez, 11/12 age group. 

Out of 65 matches, WMP claimed 49 victories. “This week, the kids were spread out all over the state. I am very proud of how they competed and represented our team,” said Head Coach Dave Andrus.
