Go Snowshoeing on MCC’s Nature Trails

Feb. 8-22: Join Montcalm Community College Instructor Cheryl Meyer for snowshoeing on Thursdays Feb. 8-22 from 2 to 3 p.m. on the Kenneth J. Lehman Nature Trails. Any ability level is welcome, and the instructor can provide tips to help you get started. Bring your own snowshoes. If there is no snow, there will be hiking or running instead. Velzy Park’s Spaghetti Dinner

Feb. 9: Velzy Park’s 3rd Annual Spaghetti Dinner has been set for Friday, February 9th at Solon Township Hall, 15185 Algoma Ave. Doors open at 5:30 with dinner at 6:00. Enjoy Live Music by Monique’s Quality Entertainment, Dessert Auction, 50/50 Raffle with your community members. Tickets, $10/person or $18/couple, can be purchased at the Township Hall. #5,6b

Power Weekend at Hillcrest Community Church

Feb. 9-11: If you would like to feel the powerful presence of God, then you need to attend Power Weekend. Power Weekend is an annual event held every February at Hillcrest Community Church in Cedar Springs. Rex Webb, Pastor of Alma House of Prayer is an anointed powerhouse and will be leading focused prayer at the February 9, 10 and 11th event. Shelby Kerkes and Frank will be leading spirit led worship. Please join us for the power weekend, you will not be disappointed when you come with great expectation of meeting Him there! Friday, February 9th from 7 – 9 pm, Saturday, February 10th from 9 am to 2 pm (light lunch provided) and Sunday, February 11th at 10 am. #6

CS Library Used Book Sale

Feb. 10: Used book sale hosted by the Cedar Springs Friends of the Library will take place on Saturday, February 10th from 9 am to 5 pm. The event will be held in the Community Room in the Cedar Springs Public Library. Hardcover books are 50 cents each and paperbacks are 25 cents each. Valentine’s Dinner Dance

Feb. 10: The Knights of Columbus is hosting a Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Saturday February 10th at 5:30 pm (dinner at 6:30 pm). Come to enjoy some good food, music, dancing and fellowship. Cabin Fever Dinner Dance

Feb. 10: The American Legion of Rockford, 330 Rockford Park, is hosting a Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 10th . Dinner from 6 – 7 pm and the dance from 7 – 11 pm. Cost is $20 per person dinner/dance and $15 per person dance only. Call 616-866-2001 for more information about tickets. #5,6p

Praise the Lord at Cowboy Church

Feb. 11: 2nd Chance will be having Cowboy Church, Bonfire and Hot Dog Roast on Sunday, February 11th  at 6 pm. It will be at 2nd Chance School at 810 – 17 Mile Rd. Cedar Springs (corner of 17 Mile and Olin Lakes Rd). We will be having a bonfire and hot dog roast along with a message and a lot of fellowship. We will be roasting hot dogs outside or will bring them in for those who prefer to not be outside. Cowboy Church will be every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Each service will have different people sharing God’s word and music. Cowboy Church will introduce you to 2nd Chance and its vision. The school is in the building stage, which when completed, will teach troubled teens through God and the horse. If you have questions, call 616-293-2150. See you there! #6

TOPS weight loss support group

Feb. 13: Take off pounds sensibly (TOPS), a non-profit weight loss support group for men and women, meets every Tuesday at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sand Lake. Your first visit is free so come check out what TOPS can do to help you reach your weigh loss goals! Weigh-ins 8:15-9am, meeting starts at 9:15am. In case of inclement weather, meetings are cancelled if Tri-County or Cedar Springs schools are closed. Call Martha at 696-1039 for more information. #6

Ice Cream Social Fundraiser

Feb. 20: Getting a late start but picking up speed is the Cedar Springs 6th grade Red Hawk Robotics Team. This is the first year for the program at this level in Cedar Springs. The program is guided by First with students participating at the First Tech Challenge level: this seasons challenge being First Relic Recovery. Our students have completed the physical construction of the robot and are working on the electrical system as well as the programming aspects. If you would like to see our robot please stop by our Ice Cream Social being held February 20th from 3:30 to 8 pm in the High School Cafeteria. Students are raising money for a new laptop and to help continue the program next year. #6,7p

MCC’s Alumni & Friends Choir Rehearsals

Feb. 22: Rehearsals for Montcalm Community College’s Alumni & Friends Choir begin Feb. 22. This is a community and student non-audition choir that welcomes everyone, high school age and above, who has an interest in singing in a choral group. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from Feb. 22 through April 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room M211 in the Morford Building on the college’s Sidney campus. The cost is $15 per person. The spring 2018 “Out of This World” concert with MCC’s Philharmonic Orchestra is April 22 at 5 p.m. on MCC’s Sidney campus. Admission to the concert is free.
