Christmas Fund Distribution

Due to the generosity of the late Evelyn Cossin, there are limited funds available again this year to assist some families in need for Christmas. The funds are available only to families living in the Cedar Springs city limits. Please send or bring letters requesting assistance to: Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, 140 S. Main St., PO Box K, Cedar Springs, MI 49319, C/O Church Secretary. All letters should include some brief summary of your need for assistance and a phone number you can be reached. All letters MUST include a contact number to be considered. Letters must be submitted and post marked and received NO LATER than Friday, DECEMBER 1st. All letters received will receive some notification of acceptance or denial of assistance. #37

Christmas in Sand Lake

Nov. 26, Dec. 1,2: Sand Lake Tree Lighting and Caroling will be held on Sunday, November 26th at 5:30 pm in Salisbury Park. Special music by Resurrection Lutheran Preschool. A Live Indoor Nativity – Our Free Gift to You will be held on Friday, December 1st from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday, December 2nd from 1 to 3 pm. Shepherds watching, Angels singing, Wise men searching and the Christ child. Live animals will greet you. Enjoy the refreshments and stay as long as you like at the Sand Lake United Methodist Church. Sand Lake Family Christmas Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 2nd from 9:30 am to 3 pm. “Selfie” with Santa 9:30 to 11:30, Cookies, Crafts & Christmas Wishes. Bring your ornaments to help decorate the trees, visit the Craft Sale and Live Nativity. See full schedule in next week’s paper. #47

Animal Junction 4-H Gingerbread House Contest

Nov. 27-Dec. 2: Animal Junction 4-H Club would like to extend an invitation to all of the Cedar Springs Community to visit the Cedar Springs Library during the week of Monday November 27th through Saturday December 2nd at noon to view the wonderful confectionary creations that our 4-H members have made to kick off this year’s holiday season. We would like the community to vote for the gingerbread house that they like best. Winners will be announced after the Community Christmas Tree Lighting downtown Cedar Springs on Saturday December 2nd. Each gingerbread house will also be up for sale throughout the week for our silent auction. The 4-H members are raising funds with the silent auction for their spring camp. #47,48p

Decorate Pine Wreaths at MCC

Dec. 1: Join the Nature Trails Committee and fashion a pine wreath Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room A138 in the Stanley P. Ash Building on MCC’s Sidney campus. Collect your 18-inch pine branches no more than 48 hours ahead of time or join committee members from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. to collect them on the Kenneth J. Lehman Nature Trails. Wreath frames and plant wire will be provided. Bring your own wire cutters, hand clippers and glue guns if you have them. Bring any natural decorations or ribbon. The cost is $5. Cookie Walk at St. Peter’s Lutheran

Dec. 2: St. Peter’s Lutheran Ladies Guild is having their Annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, December 2nd at 310 E. Division, Rockford. It begins at 9 am until the cookies are gone. Stop in and pick up your holiday cookies. Cookies are sold by the pound and you select the combination. #47,48b

HCNC Wreath Making/Craft Make and Take

Dec. 9: Make this year’s wreath with foraged cuttings, and personalize it with provided trimmings. While you enjoy your wreath making, let your children 5 & over craft ornaments to make and take. This event is held at Howard Christensen Nature Center’s Camp Lilys, on 20 Mile Rd. Saturday, December 9th from 10 am to 1 pm.
