Halloween and Harvest Happenings

 

Check out some of the fun, fall activities going on in our area in the days leading up to Halloween night.

Green Family & Friends Pumpkin Giveaway fundraiser

Oct. 21: If you’d like to do something fun this weekend to with the family and help out someone in need at the same time, stop by the 2017 Green Family & Friends Pumpkin Giveaway at Morley Park, 70 Cedar Street in Cedar Springs, this Saturday, October 21, from 2-6 p.m. The event is free, and all proceeds donated will go to help with Brison Ricker’s medical expenses. The event includes lots of food, games, and entertainment—including a magician, silent auction, 600 pumpkins to be given away and more. Be sure to bring your pop cans for their pop can drive.

Boo-tacular celebration at Solon Twp Hall

Oct. 21: Friends of Velzy Park welcomes the community to a Boo-tacular celebration on Saturday, October 21, from 4-6 pm at the Solon Township Hall, 15185 Algoma Avenue, Cedar Springs. Make & take Scarecrows, games & prizes, scavenger hunt, refreshments. Costumes encouraged. For more information, call Shelly at 616-696-1848.

Free Harvest Party at Cedar Creek Community Church

Oct. 21: Cedar Creek Community Church, 2969 – 14 Mile Rd., Sparta, is hosting a free Harvest Party on Saturday, October 21, from 5-8 pm. Enjoy hay rides (straw due to allergies), pumpkin painting, dunking for apples, pumpkin bowling, bounce houses, cake walk, games for all ages, face painting, soup and hot dogs (from 5-6 pm), popcorn, lots of fun and fellowship. All are welcome! 

Trunk N’ Treat Gala at Solon Center Wesleyan

Oct. 25: Families are cordially invited to attend our Trunk N’ Treat Gala, Oct 25, 6-8 pm. Also for the kids are carnival games, hot dogs for dinner, a costume contest (7 pm) and of lots of candy! Come dressed in your costume and bring a treat bag. The church is located at 15671 Algoma Ave. Cedar Springs.

Pumpkin Carving and Spooky Walk at HCNC

Oct. 27: Nothing says Halloween like pumpkin carving and a spooky trail walk! Join us for a thrilling and ghoulish night! Price includes a pumpkin and everything you need to carve it. Friday, October 27 from 6-8:30 pm. Carving starts at 6 pm. Walks leave promptly at 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. This event is open to kids of all ages (even the grown-up ones). Donuts, cider, and coffee provided as refreshment. Howard Christensen Nature Center, 16160 Red Pine Drive, Kent City. Please preregister online at HowardChristensen.org. 616-675-3158. 

Trunk or Treat at East Nelson

October 28: Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 28 from 5-7:30 pm at East Nelson Church, 9024-18 Mile Rd, Cedar Springs. Come join us for treats, games, prizes, and a walking taco. Have a howling good time!

Haunted School House

Oct. 28, 31: The Cedar Springs Historical Museum will host a Haunted School again this year, on Saturday, October 28, and on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31, from 5-7 pm. It’s family friendly, just good spooky fun!

Awesome Autumn Adventure! at Nelson Twp/Sand Lake Library

Oct. 31: Celebrate the season with autumn crafts, games, and pumpkin decorating on Tuesday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson Twp/Sand Lake KDL branch, 88 Eighth St, Sand Lake. Please bring your own pumpkin.

Cedar Springs Halloween Spooktacular 

Oct. 31: Trick or treat at downtown businesses in Cedar Springs during the Halloween Spooktacular on Tuesday, October 31, from 5-6:30 p.m. Maps will be handed out at the Cedar Springs Community Library. Apple Cider and Donut holes will be available at the Fire Station. Residential trick or treating will be 5 to 8 p.m.

Trunk or Treat at The Springs

Oct. 31: Join us for our Annual Trunk or Treat at The Springs Church from 6-8 pm on Halloween night. We will have lots of cars, candy, and community. Cider/Coffee and donuts will be available. Come rain or shine! The event will be moved inside if it rains. 135 N. Grant St., Cedar Springs.

Halloween party at Sand Lake Fire Station

Oct. 31: Halloween party at the Fire Station, 2 Maple St, Sand Lake, Mich., sponsored by the Sand Lake Community Engagement Committee. Cider, coffee, donuts, bounce house, goodie bags, costume parade at 7 pm in front of fire station, and gift certificates drawing. Everyone is welcome. Come down to the station and have a happy Halloween!

Trunk-R-Treat at Hillcrest Community Church

Oct. 31: Trunk-r-treat at Hillcrest Community Church, 5994 18 Mile Rd NE, Cedar Springs, Mich., from 6-8 pm in the church parking lot.
