Police find suspect in gas drive offs

A month ago, the Post published a story with a photo that said the Sand Lake Police Department and Wesco gas station in Sand Lake were asking for help to identify a vehicle that had been driving off without paying for gas for a month. Sand Lake Police also posted photos on their Facebook page.

According Sand Lake Police Chief James Reamsma, they did locate the vehicle. “The owner was not the one driving, and had no knowledge of the gas thefts. The publicity was responsible for them coming forward,” he explained.

Reamsma said that the owner of the vehicle went to Wesco and made restitution, so he did not anticipate any charges would be filed.
