Special Families Fun Fest

For families of individuals with special needs Oct. 15

The DeltaPlex Arena and Family Hope Foundation are proud to announce the 5th annual Special Families Fun Fest, Saturday, October 15th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the DeltaPlex Arena. The event provides a low-cost, low-stress day filled with fun activities perfect for the whole family of individuals with special needs, no matter their age or disability. Admission is $5.00, which includes 10 carnival game tickets and all other shows and attractions. A talented caricature artist is back this year to go along with popular draws like carnival games for all abilities, a petting zoo, adaptive bike course and the all-time favorite mime, mini music therapy sessions and a dance performance by individuals with special needs. Tickets can be purchased at the DeltaPlex Box Office before or on the day of the event.

Activities are complemented by amenities that help individuals with special needs and their families relax and enjoy the day, including volunteers at every exit for safety, a sensory room for regulation, barrier-free access and a quiet room. Guests can also find information from community organizations offering products and services specifically designed for individuals with special needs. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available.

“The DeltaPlex is a wonderful partner in making Special Families Fun Fest a great success,” said Family Hope Foundation board chair, Lara Kitts. “Special Families Fun Fest is a day where the entire family can get out and have fun together, which is so important but can be a big challenge when a family member has special needs.”

Proceeds help support Family Hope Foundation’s scholarship program for therapy not covered by insurance. Family Hope Foundation organizes and publicizes a series of events designed to provide families of individuals with special needs with affordable, disability-friendly, low stress, fun activities that they can participate in as a whole family. More information is available by visiting the Family Hope Foundation website at www.familyhopefoundation.org, on Facebook, or by contacting Lara Kitts at (616)780-3839.
