Auditions announced for upcoming CSCP production

June 20,22: The Cedar Springs Community Players are pleased to announce auditions for its upcoming summer production of “Postal” by Herb Hasler, a wacky, two-act comedy. They will be held at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 20 from 10 am to noon and Monday, June 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Needed are 6 men and 6 women, ages between 18-60+. DIY Tie-Die for Teens

June 22: Bring a white or light colored T-shirt to this program and try a new way to tie-die – with permanent markers. All other materials will be provided to help you create a one-of-a-kind shirt. Monday, June 22nd at 1:30 pm at the Nelson Township/Sand Lake KDL Branch, 88 Eighth St. #24

TOPS weight loss support group

June 23: Take off pounds sensibly (TOPS), a non-profit weight loss support group for men and women, meets every Tuesday at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sand Lake. Your first visit is free so come check out what TOPS can do to help you reach your weigh loss goals! Weigh-ins 8:15-9am, meeting starts at 9:15am. In case of inclement weather, meetings are cancelled if Tri-County or Cedar Springs schools are closed. Call Barb at 696-8049 for more information. #24

Kent Theatre Volunteer Sign-up

June 24,26: June 24th and June 26th from 10 am to 12 pm and from 1:30 pm to 3 pm in the Kent Theatre lobby. Volunteers are needed for the concessions area. We are usually open Friday thru Sunday, with occasional weekdays for plays and special events. We will consider groups and families but volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Work shifts vary from 4 hours to 10 hours on any given day. Volunteer hours can count as community service hours. Contact Mary Balon at 616-696-3168 or e-mail events@kenttheatre.org. #24,25p

Senior Lunch at Pine Grove Community Church

June 24: Fellas take your gal and a few of your best friends, pile in the ol’ Packard and come on over to the Pine Grove Senior Grill and check out the new menu for this year’s Picnic.  The cooks are quietly planning back there in the kitchen.  There are whispers of Brats or Burgers or other picnic stuff hot off the grill.  Have heard of sides of Tater Salad, Baked Beans and Melon. For all those age 60 and over we’re throwing our annual “Grill Picnic” at Noon the 24th of June.  Come n help us celebrate an early Independence Day!  Our picnic ground grill can be found on the Northwest corner of M-82 and Beech Ave. #24

Metron of Cedar Springs Open House

June 25: Metron of Cedar Springs is excited to announce our facility is hosting an Open House on Thursday, June 25th from 4 pm to 6 pm. June 30: The Red Flannel Art Review is entering its third year and is once again seeking artists to compete for cash prizes. Local businesses will be graciously providing space for artists to display their work. PATH Diabetics Class at Solon Center Wesleyan

July 2: PATH Diabetics Class starting July 2nd at 9 am at Solon Center Wesleyan Church, 15671 Algoma Ave., Cedar Springs. FREE class for anyone with diabetes. Two trained leaders guide workshops. It doesn’t matter how long you have had diabetes or how well or how poorly you think you are doing with your diabetes. The workshop covers many things about diabetes, but what you will really learn are ways to help take care of your health. In a workshop you will learn techniques to move more easily, take charge of your health, be more independent and communicate better with your health care team. You will learn to make weekly action plans that help you stay on track with your diabetes care. You and the other workshop participants will help each other learn to solve problems managing diabetes. #24,25p
