Sand Lake under boil water advisory

UPDATE: As of Thursday afternoon, June 4th, the boil water advisory has been lifted.

Residents and businesses in the Village of Sand Lake are under a boil water advisory due to coliform found in the water. Below is the advisory sent out from the Village of Sand Lake Department of Public works:

Public Notice to Boil Water

Due to COLIFORM in the water, the Village of Sand Lake Department of Public Works (VSLDPW) has required our water system Russ Johnson ID number 12215 to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

It would have been nice to be notified. I live in town and never received a call or a notice on my door. The village needs a better method of communication with its residents.
