April 13: Get ready to breathe new life into old pages. Create an artistic “second chapter” by upcycling older books and book pages into a variety of possibilities. Make a cover for you Nook/Kindle/eBook device, create a wreath or decorative spheres or choose your own book-inspired project. Bring your own expired title or use ours. TOPS weight loss support group

Apr. 14: Take off pounds sensibly (TOPS), a non-profit weight loss support group for men and women, meets every Tuesday at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sand Lake. Your first visit is free so come check out what TOPS can do to help you reach your weigh loss goals! Weigh-ins 8:15-9am, meeting starts at 9:15am. In case of inclement weather, meetings are cancelled if Tri-County or Cedar Springs schools are closed. Call Barb at 696-8049 for more information. #11

Cedar Springs Community Night

Apr. 16: Come to the 29th Annual Cedar Springs Community Night. Free admission! There will be booths, demonstrations, performances, and more. There will be the performances and displays of CSPS Fine Arts Department. Food will be available for purchase at the Boosters concession stand. Thursday, April 16 from 6  to 8:30 pm at the Cedar Springs High School (off East Muskegon east of Main St.) Presented by the Community Action Network in cooperation with the Cedar Springs Public Schools Fine Arts Department. Proceeds will be given to community organizations. #12-14p

Nelson Township/Sand Lake Library Book Sale

Apr. 16-18: The Nelson Township/ Sand Lake KDL Branch spring book sale will be held on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17 from 10 am to 7 pm, and on Saturday, April 18 from 10 am to 2 pm. See the new location at the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 180 Northland Dr. in Sand Lake. 15,000 to 18, 000 items: books, magazines, cds, vhs, dvds, puzzles. The Dixie Swim Club

Apr. 17-19, 24-25: Flat River Community Players presents “The Dixie Swim Club” at 7:30pm on April, 17, 18, 19, 24 & 25, and at 2:00pm on April 19, at the Greenville Area Community Center. Tickets are $13 adults, $11 students and senior citizens. Lions Club Pancake Breakfast

Apr. 18: The Cedar Springs Lions Club is hosting a pancake breakfast every third Saturday of each month January thru April. Come to the Cedar Springs Untied Methodist Church located on the corner of Main and Church Streets on Saturday, April 18 from 7 am to 11 am, for an all-you-can-eat breakfast including pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, juice and coffee. Adults $7, seniors $6, family $20, children under 12 free. Proceeds to assist sight conservation. #14

“Money Smart Kids Read” finance program

Apr. 18, 22: The Cedar Springs Public Library and ChoiceOne Bank have paired up to bring the “Money Smart Kids Read” initiative to the library. This program is especially geared towards children ages 7 and under The goal is to introduce kids to the idea of being responsible with finances at an early age. If you have children, ages 7 and under, join us at the library (located at 43 W. Cherry St.) on Saturday, April 18 or Wednesday, April 22, at 10:15am to learn this valuable life lesson. Earth Day – Volunteer Day

Apr. 19: Celebrate Earth Day with HCNC on Sunday, April 19 from 12 noon to 3pm. Bring the entire family and join in the following activities: Planting seedlings and flowers, build a rain garden and help finish some of our winter projects; such as Timberland Playground. Join us outside for a fun day of volunteering as we make our 2015 improvements at the Howard Christensen Nature Center, 16190 Red Pine Dr., Kent City.
