Jones, Kaupa, and Burrows are named Cedar Springs Athletic Boosters Student Athletes of the Month for October

Justin Jones

Senior Justin Jones was named October Student Athlete of the Month for Cross Country. Justin has participated in Cross country all 4 years in high school, and is a team captain. Justin is a returning OK Bronze All-Conference runner and is on pace to do it again this season. He started the season strong finishing 4th in each of the first two races. Justin also participates in basketball and runs track. This is done all while maintaining a 3.4 GPA.

Coach Garrett Lacy comments “Justin is one of two co captains that we have on the team this year. He does a great job of leading by example on and off the field. Justin has worked hard to prepare for his senior year logging the most miles on the team this past summer. He is an exemplary student and does a great job managing his time amongst three varsity sports. Right now he is also taking dual enrollment classes at Grand Rapids Community College along with his high school work at Cedar Springs, as well as being an integral part of the cross-country team.”

Justin is the son of Mary and Tony Jones.

Nicole Kaupa

Senior Nicole Kaupa was named October Student Athlete of the month for Equestrian. Nicole has worked hard to improve for her senior year and is a leader on her team. Nicole has a 3.3 GPA.

Nicole’s coaches state that “Nicole has been a huge asset to our team. She is willing and able to try anything we throw at her. She has improved in both skill and attitude, and is always willing to lend a hand with her teammates. She is always early for practice and, asks for help when struggling with anything. We will miss you Nicole!!”

Nicole is the daughter of Kathy and Ted Kaupa.

Caden Burrows

Senior Caden Burrows was named October Student Athlete of the Month for Football. Caden a team captain is coming off a strong junior year in football, where he was named 2013 OK Bronze 1st team All-Conference. Caden plays both offensive and defensive line. The team is off to a great start at 5-1. Caden a multiple sport athlete is also a member of ALC and Red Hawk kids club. Caden has a 3.51 GPA .

Coach Kapolka comments, “Caden is one of the unquestioned leaders of our team. His rock solid leadership and even-keeled demeanor have led us to a 4-1 start. His work ethic serves as an example to the younger players in our program, and his performance on the field makes him one of the best linemen in the entire OK conference regardless of division.

Caden is the son of Kim and Tim Burrows.
