“Blithe Spirit” Opens at the Kent

Oct. 23-25: Cedar Springs Community Players presents, “Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward. When socialite and novelist Charles Condomine decides that he needs background for a novel he’s writing about the occult, he decides to entertain a medium in order to observe her in action. Expecting to expose Madam Arcati as a fraud, he is profoundly shocked to discover that she does, indeed, have a way to speak with the dead. A surprise twist leads to an unexpected conclusion and will have you laughing all the way to the final curtain. “Blithe Spirit” is being directed by Peter Huschilt. All performances are the the Kent Theatre located in downtown Cedar Springs and begin at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Cedar Springs Library, Main Street Restaurant, or by calling Jon at 616-263-9363. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Pumpkin Walk and Carving

Oct. 25: Pumpkin carving and trail walk at Howard Christensen Nature Center. $8 per person (includes one pumpkin). The evening begins at 5 pm at the Red Pine Center with pumpkin carving and pumpkin carving contest. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. After carving and judging, the pumpkins will be lit and laid out along a trail where a pumpkin lit trail walk will take place. Flu Shot Clinic

Oct. 27: Courtland Oakfield UMC is hosting a Flu Shot Clinic on Monday, October 27 from 4:30 pm to 6 pm. The church is located at 10295 Myers Lake Ave. NE. Bring your traditional Medicare, Medicare+Blue, Blue Care Network, Priority Heath or Aetna Medicare insurance card. #43


Fall Festival

Oct. 29: Fall Festival for all ages at the Solon Center Wesleyan Church, 15671 Algoma Ave., Cedar Springs on Wednesday, October 29th from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. For families with children 5th grade and under. Games, prizes, snacks, boy and girl door prizes and candy, candy candy! The church is located just north of 19 Mile Rd. #43


Senior Lunch at Pine Grove Community Church

Oct. 29: The frost is on the pumpkin, the fodder’s in the shock. Our cooks are in the kitchen busy fillin that ol stock pot. They’re choppin this and stirrin that creating a tasty bounty for all the Seniors in the county. So if you’re age 60 or perhaps even more, we invite you please, to pass through our door. The 29th of October, the hour is Noon, on the corner of M-82 and Beech, we hope to see you soon. #43


“Nightmare on Cherry Street”

Oct. 30: Calling all 4th to 6th graders! You are officially invited to come to our “Nightmare on Cherry Street” party at the Cedar Springs Library! The fun, games, and food will begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 30 and go until 7:30 pm! Registration is required, so come into the library to sign up or call 616-696-1910. #43


Halloween Hospitality Center

Oct. 31: Warm up station at the Cedar Springs UM Church, 140 S. Main St., Cedar Springs on Friday, October 31 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Serving hot chocolate and popcorn. Everyone is welcome to join us. Sponsored by CSUM Church. #43


Family Harvest Celebration

Oct. 31: Pine Ridge Bible Camp is having a Free family event including hayride, games, puppet show, cider, donuts and a trip through “Treat Town.” Please bring a bag for collecting treats. Trick or Treat Trail Walk at HCNC

Oct. 31: The Howard Christensen Nature Center will host a Trick or Treat Trail Walk on Friday, October 31 from 3 to 5 pm. A $1 donation is suggested but not required to offset costs. Bring your little ones all dressed up to find some goodies in the woods along one of our trails. Conveniently timed to allow for children to return to their neighborhoods for trick or treating and other Halloween events.
