Tennis team records two more wins

A home match with Grant Public Schools on Wednesday, August 27, resulted in a 5-3 win for the Cedar Springs Red Hawk varsity boys tennis team. #1 singles Blake Fisk (junior), #2 singles Nick Fennessy (senior), #3 singles Drew French (sophomore), #4 singles Dylan Kolasa (sophomore) and #1 doubles Karsen Dingman and Austin Nielson (sophomores) all won their matches.

On Thursday, August 28, the Red Hawks traveled to Fruitport for a match, which led to in an 8-0 win.

Rounding out the roster is junior Ethan Brown and sophomore Jonathon Baculy at #2 doubles; sophomore Jared Liggett and freshman Nicholas Hibbs at #3 doubles; and sophomore Timothy Shovan and junior Jesse Empie at #4 doubles.

Coach Katie Unsworth has confidence in her young team. “So far we are off to a positive start to our season! We took first place as a team in the Sparta Invitational and won both of our dual matches against Grant and Fruitport. We are looking forward to a strong, successful season with 10 returning players and two new team players (Hibbs and Empie) who seem to be natural tennis players!” she said.
