A Gowen man was injured when his car ran off the road in Spencer Township last week.

According to the Kent County Sheriff Department, Gregory Reed, of Gowen, was traveling westbound on 18 Mile Road, in Spencer Township, about 9:04 p.m., April 3, when he lost control of his 2002 Jeep Wrangler near Meddler, and crossed the centerline and struck a tree on the south side of the road.

The 21-year-old driver Gregory Reed suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Spectrum Downtown.

The accident is still under investigation but police believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
