Deputies from the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an attempted abduction of an 8-year-old Howard City girl last Sunday, March 9.

Police said that the girl was walking to a friend’s house about 3 p.m. on Amy School Road at Almy Road in Reynolds Township, when she was approached by a male subject. The man reportedly told the girl that her Aunt was in the Hospital and to “get in.” The girl refused and continued on to her destination, while the suspect vehicle left southbound from the intersection.

The suspect is described as a heavy set male in his late twenties or early thirties, and bald with a beard. He was observed wearing a black tank top, and a camouflage zip up hooded sweatshirt. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a newer full sized Red pickup with a standard cab, possibly a Ford.

The girl was not harmed during this incident, and the Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate. If you have information on this, please call 989-831-7590.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post.
