Waterline busts at jail

Personal and professional visits to the Kent County Jail were canceled Wednesday, January 8, after a water line broke about 7 a.m. outside the main entrance.

The Kent County Sheriff Department said they believe the damage is the result of the extreme cold temperatures.

The KCSD originally said the public entrance would only be closed until 1 p.m., but cleanup and repairs took longer than anticipated.

Those posting bond for an inmate were able to use the back entrance.
