Athletes of the Month

CSPS-HanmerSenior Mitch Hanmer was named Student Athlete of the Month for Soccer. Mitch was voted captain this year by his teammates. Mitch excels in the classroom with a 3.5 GPA and is a member of the Athletic Leadership Council. Mitch is really excited about his team, and the chemistry they are building with the all the new members of the team.

Coach Avink states “Mitch is a workhorse! He came out his senior year as a captain and it is obvious, that he wants this to be his best year yet. Every day he continues to grow and learn as a leader. He has the drive to push himself and his teammates. He continues to find new ways to demonstrate what it looks like to be a selfless leader and to do what’s best for the team. He is a difference maker on and off the field!”

Mitch is the son of Michele and Scott Hanmer.

 

CSPS-AlgerJunior Alyssa Alger was named Student Athlete of the month for Sideline Cheer. Alyssa a 3 year varsity sideline team member, has received many awards in her high school career including being named Academic All State 2 times, All conference, All District and All Region. Alyssa also excels in the classroom with a 3.813 GPA.  Alyssa volunteers in the Red Hawk kids club, ALC and Rocket cheerleading.

Coach Ramirez say that,” Alyssa is a positive role model in and outside of cheerleading. Her dedication to the sport and love of the game is shared on a daily basis. Her teammates believe she is a great motivator, has a positive attitude, pushes her teammates to do their best and always enjoys herself and shares her bubbly spirit.” According to the rocket cheerleaders, “Alyssa Alger is a LEGEND!”

Alyssa is the daughter of Amy and Dan Forster.

 

CSPS-PerkrulSenior Maddie Pekrul has been named September 2013 Student Athlete of the Month for Girls Cross Country. Maddie a senior captain, is a 4 year varsity runner has received many awards including, All Conference as a sophomore, All Conference honorable mention as a junior, top ten board for XC AND is a member of the record setting 3200 relay team in track. Maddie also excels in the classroom with a 3.875 GPA.  She is in Advanced TV Pro, Advanced Drama participating in musicals at the high school, and is a member of ALC and NHS.

Coach Covey says that “Maddie is an excellent team leader. She supports every team member, always has a positive attitude, and takes on responsibilities. I applaud Maddie for her willingness to develop relationships with every new team member. Maddie has a bright future ahead of her.”

Maddie is the daughter of Nancy and Michael Pekrul.
