A Cedar Springs man suffered serious injury last week when his motorcycle collided with a deer in Spencer Township.

According to the Kent County Sheriff Department, Rick Howland, 58, of Cedar Springs, was traveling south on Meddler near Rooksby, about 10:35 a.m., September 12, when a deer jumped out in front of him and he hit the deer.
The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered injuries to his head and his arm. He was transported to the hospital by AeroMed. Police said he is expected to make a full recovery.
Spencer Township Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
