Bake Sale at Pioneer Christian

Sept. 14: Pioneer Christian Reformed Church is having a bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 14th from 10 am to 2 pm. Cookies, breads, jerky, jam and all kinds of homemade goodies. The location is the SE corner of Algoma and 17 Mile Rd. Proceeds to go to the Pioneer CRC Future Church Building. #37b

 

Solon Township Fire Department Dinner

Sept. 14: The Solon Township Fire department is having a fundraising dinner on September 14th from 2 to 6 pm at the Solon Township Hall, 15185 Algoma Ave., Cedar Springs. $5 per person includes 1 giant smoked hot dog, chips, potato salad and drink. #36,37p

 

Community Luncheon Series Kicks off September 19

Sept. 16: The third year of luncheons sponsored by the Cedar Springs Area Parks and Recreation will be held again on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Our first is Thursday, September 19 at Algoma Township Hall at 11:30 am. Cost is $7 for a catered lunch and a speaker. The speaker is from Home Acres Ceramics in downtown Cedar Springs and she will bring a craft for all to complete. Please join us and rsvp to 616-696-7320 by Monday, September 16 at 5 pm. #36,37p

 

Travel to Stratford with MCC on Oct. 4

Sept. 16: Montcalm Community College offers a one-day cultural trip to Stratford Ontario, Canada on October 4 to see Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”. Non-students may register for the trip starting on September 16, and the cost is $65. Anyone planning to participate in this trip must have an enhanced driver’s license, United States Passport or Passport Card valid through October 2013. Dinner at the Legion

Sept. 16: American Legion, 80 Main St. Cedar Springs, is hosting a pork chop dinner on Monday, September 16th, from 5 – 7 pm. Included will be stuffing, mashed potatoes, veggies, salad, dessert and drinks. All dinners are $9, children $4.50. Enjoy home cooking. Take out is available. 616-696-9160. #33p

 

Red Flannel Day Talent Show Tryouts

Sept. 16: Looking for talented kids of all ages. The Red Flannel Talent Show is searching for singers, vocal groups, dancers, instrumentalists and variety acts for the Red Flannel Day Talent Show on October 5th. Come in and show us what you got. Tryouts on Monday September 16 at 7:00 pm at the Kent Theatre, 8 N. Main St. Cedar Springs. So, get together with friends and family and plan your act now. TOPS weight loss support group

Sept. 17: Take off pounds sensibly (TOPS), a non-profit weight loss support group for men and women, meets every Tuesday at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sand Lake. Your first visit is free so come check out what TOPS can do to help you reach your weigh loss goals! Weigh-ins 8:15-9am, meeting starts at 9:15am. In case of inclement weather, meetings are cancelled if Tri-County or Cedar Springs schools are closed. Call Martha at 696-1039 for more information. #37

 

Humane Society Mobile Adoption Program

Sept. 17: Staff from the Humane Society of West Michigan will bring animals that are available for adoption to the Spencer Township KDL branch on Tuesday, September, 17th at 6 pm. 14960 Meddler Ave. #37

 

Monthly Meal at East Nelson UMC

Sept. 18: East Nelson UMC at 9024 – 18 Mile Rd. NE in Cedar Springs is starting their monthly meals on Wednesday, September 18 from 5 to 7 pm. The menu is meatloaf, boiled red potatoes, corn, salad and many homemade desserts. Open to the public with a good will donation. #37

 

An Evening of Harmony

Sept. 20: Enjoy and evening of harmony with “Majestyx”, (one of the top 40 Barbershop Quartets in the world) on Friday, September 20th at 6 pm. Songs include Happy Together, Friends Like Me, Mona Lisa and A Rainy Night in Rio. Join us at the Tri County Eagles, 32 W. Lake St., Sand Lake. A free will offering is appreciated. #37,38p

 

1971 CSHS Class Reunion

Pancake Breakfast and Auction at HCNC

Sept. 21: On Saturday, September 21 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm Howard Christensen Nature Center is hosting a pancake breakfast and silent auction. Breakfast for $5.00 comes with pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee or tea. The silent auction will include antiques, household items, and much more. Benefit for Ronda Smith

Sept. 21: A Spaghetti dinner benefit is being held for Ronda Smith on Saturday, September 21 from 4 to 8 pm, Cedarfield Community Building, 3592 – 17 Mile Rd. $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for kids (4-12) and 3 and under are free. Dinner also includes garlic toast, salad, dessert and drink. Other activities are 50/50 raffle, bake sale, silent auction and door prizes. Ronda was diagnosed with cancer on July 5th, has had surgery and is facing six months of chemotherapy followed by radiation treatment. Proceeds are to help with treatment costs. Wayne & Willie perform at Tri County Eagles

Sept. 21: Come and enjoy songs people remember with Wayne & Willy at the Tri County Eagles, 32 W. Lake St., Sand Lake on Saturday, September 21 starting at 6 pm. A rib eye steak dinner will be served from 3 to 8 pm for $13.75. The proceeds go to Military Support Programs and Networks, a Michigan State Aerie President’s Charity. #37,28p

 

Cedar Springs Class of 2003 Reunion

Sept. 27: The Class of 2003 will be celebrating its 10 year class reunion on Friday, October 4 at 7 pm at McFadden’s in Grand Rapids. The cost is $25 per person and must be received by September 27.
